Great cooperative game. Very cute and charming. My only slight is that there are too many puzzles that involve remembering lots of things.

I tried playing coop with some friends, but it crashed twice for the host which kicked everyone out of the session. It's a shame, because we were really drawn to the Dark Souls meets Runescape atmosphere.

If Stein's Gate was a visual novel with escape room gameplay.

It's a decent indie game with a cool art style and soundtrack.

The gameplay is fairly simplistic and generally quite repetitive, with about 4 -5 hours of content including the DLC.

I wish hunting the achievements were not such a chore, requiring you not to miss anything if you only plan to play through the main story once and then you must play through the DLC at least 12 times.

Still, I would recommend the game as it is competently put together, and you can see a lot of that effort and passion from the developers.

It's my first time playing through the game although I've known the main points of the story for quite some time.

There were a few crashes early on before the April 2023 patches, usually when I would quit to main menu. I think I crashed once when just playing through the game, but otherwise it ran pretty well on my 4090, 13900k.

The game looks great in HDR on an OLED monitor, and the framerate with everything maxed out was generally 100+ (3440 x 1440).

There were some issues with lighting/shadows of objects in dark environments and visible skybox on the edge of certain wall angles, but nothing that completely broke immersion.

There was also some weird screenshake issue during the bus in the water scene where the screen shook violently, so much so that you would be thrown outside of the scene. I played through this scene twice and it happened at two different points.

The story is pretty decent, the characters are portrayed well. I'm looking forward to watching the show now.

I played through it once (Survivor difficulty) following a guide to get all the achievements in both the main game and the DLC, I have no interest in NG+. Everything unlocked as expected. I look forward to Part 2.

I'm just balancing out the reviews complaining that they have to actually conserve ammo and not use Wukong to AFK farm.

Those complaining about the index controls messing with the game need to check their in game settings, because you can turn that off.

This game's mechanics are pretty damn addictive and there are a good amount of mods to change some gameplay aspects and fix certain flaws with the game. Apart from the frequent crashes, the other major downside is the excessive amount of paid DLCs it feels like you have to buy and the amount of hackers in the game. Other than that, this is worth playing with a couple of mates in the evening.

I'm not one to usually write reviews, but I just had to give this a recommendation to whoever reads this.

This is not just a game, it's an interactive experience, and if you're one who loves game lore and can get really get into the world of a game, or novel, or movie, then you'll absolutely thoroughly enjoy this.

When you play, listen to every dialogue, view every detail, think about every choice, and please make it all the way to the end. You will not forget this experience.
