Without a doubt, VVVVVV is one of the hardest platformers around. It's also one of the best of its class.

Don't let it's simple unsuspecting appearance fool you. Beneath the inviting Commodore 64-esque visuals lay a game of absolute terror. Not the usual sort of horror, mind you; it doesn't make you jump or mess with your mind. No, this game terrifies you with its sheer intense level design, demanding nothing less but total perfection to conquer its gantlet of doom. To best this game you need fortuity, to be able to hold steadfast in the face of adversity, and some crazy fast reflexes.

I can't say enough good things about VVVVVV. It's Terry Cavanagh's best game to date, and one of the best and most difficult platformers I've ever played. If you have any interest in challenging platformers whatsoever, you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to pick up VVVVVV.

When I was first introduced to this game I was quite sceptical having never experienced a strategy game like this before, and being more used to typical RTS games. I was left amazed at how in-depth and engaging the strategic elements are. One moment I was advancing through the ingame tutorial and the next I had sunk 10 consecutive hours into my first playthrough. With it nearing 2 A.M in the morning, I found myself mumbling 'one last turn, one last turn' only to continue playing for several more hours.

From the outset you're enticed into this turn-based world with a couple of units, stone-age technology; and then engrossed in the long climb from that to a world-spanning Empire which you helped develop both socially and technologically. It’s an epic unfolding before your eyes, one click at a time.

Civilization IV is by far one of the best strategy games to date, boasting an addictive and mentally stimulating form of gameplay that few games today can match.

Deceptively simple, brilliantly random and dangerously addictive. The Binding of Isaac plays like a love-letter to a bygone age of gaming where brutal difficulty and endless replays were the norm.

Inspired by classic Zelda games and infused with a morbid theme you can't help but be charmed by this witty dungeon crawler. Each playthrough is fresh with randomly generated dungeons consisting of a range of random enemies, bosses and most importantly the multitude of Items! You will find yourself always piqued with anticipation before entering the next room and with little details such as shops, fruit machines and secret rooms all added to the mix there's always a sense of suspense.

Ultimately, a thoroughly enjoyable game that you will be playing again and again. It’s tough but fun, deep and gross, with just lots of rewarding content.

Epic action packed game with gripping storyline. The level design throughout is jaw-dropping and amazing - from the dingy atmosphere of the Afterlife nightclub to the pristine decks of the Normandy, all contribute to the immersion into this futuristic world. Definitely one of the front runners for top must play games of all time.
