Game is fun for a solid 4 hours or so. Remastered is great but significantly easier. This is an easy choice to get into the genre for those who get spooked easily, as it isn't jump-scare heavy and most of the game is solving various puzzles and riddles.

However, if getting spooked is one's goal, then here are the few and only games to have spooked me. (from least to most spook)
The Witch's House
The Forest
Alien Isolation (preferably with the unpredictable alien mod)
and finally, the scariest game of them all...
Escape From Tarkov

Your Save File has Corrupted!

Edit: Luckily my friend was down to start from the beginning again. If you do get this, periodically go into local %appdata% and backup your save, because if your computer or game crashes, it has pretty decent odds of wiping your character.

Game itself has decent exploration, the bosses are pretty much lobotomized vegetables, and the overall experience lasted us ~10 hours (since my first file corrupted about 4 hours in). DLC is one extra area that takes like 30 mins to clear, available from ~mid game.

I'd say get the game on sale at $20 if you can find a friend to play it with, if not then just pass.

to play multiplayer: disable ai in multiplayer settings, set a password (if with a friend), unlock the town area, leave the town, then press up d-pad and wait until you see another health bar up top.

Tried to play Gloomhaven with a Russian
He didn't speak much English
I didn't speak any Russian
Neither of us knew how to play Gloomhaven
so I did the next logical step of
drawing a massive c**k on the table
he drew a man riding a bicycle as a response
God I love this game

It's kinda like a stealthier Far Cry, you sneak around trying to do objectives (primarily clearing bunkers) until the clap of your ass cheeks alert the guards, where it then becomes a game of running from the incoming napalm hellstorm until you either hop on your twinkcycle and bike off into the distance or become a new goo-ey charcoal addition to the pavement. Once you get to the second region, a big-robot-patrol-hit-squad starts tracking your footsteps. You might be wondering, what's big? The amount of robots, or the size of them? To answer your question, yes . Every now and then you can find a safe zone to respawn from. Less often than that you might find a gun capable of killing the smaller robots within a magazine or three. And if you're REALLY lucky, you could even find ammo for that gun that isn't equivalent to giving friendly neighborhood robot G0L14TH ( destroyer of houses ) a back rub. Your survival is based on many factors such as;
-how many bullets you can dodge
-how many bullets you can take before dying
-how many bandages you have to heal bullets wounds
If at any point it seemed like I forgot to include the "napalm hellfire" in this survival synopsis, that's because there's a different rule set for surviving rocket barrages;
1.) you don't

Other games this is comparable to:
Sir, You Are Being Hunted
Don't Starve Together
NekoPara Vol. 1-3
Doom (as an imp)
Remnant: From the Ashes
