There's no need to describe the impact this game had on the multiplayer scene. This may very well be the best live service game ever released, with a subtle but catching "story" and constant updates related to what the playerbase does in-game to influence the outcome of the war.
If you like playing co-op with friends trying to survive the constantly evolving insect swarm of the Terminids or jumping into a PTSD-inducing war with the automatons this is the game for you.
Don't get fooled by the relative limited amount of mission types as the replay value is very high and the learning curve is smooth, every drop is different and requires you and your team to adapt for the situation and all the variables you need to take into account in higher difficulties (the real game arguably starts when you reach at least level 7).

Finding a relevant flaw for this game is real hard, but if I have to find something at all costs here's what I came up with:
- There is a monetization system in the game and initially I was kinda concerned about it since we're talking about a buy-to-play product, turns out it's nothing THAT impactful since the premium currency is farmable in every mission you drop in, if you want to put in the effort.
- If you stop playing for a while or you jump into the action now, months after release, you'll obviously miss the progress the Helldivers made in your absence, but since the story is told via text messages and subtle hints getting up to date is probably pretty easy.

My Rust review is definetely positive, a heavy pvp-based survival totally worth playing expecially with friends. I won't explain the core of this game since there are already countless reviews speaking about that, I will make a list of pro and cons from my point of view instead:

Pros (random order):

+ monthly updates grant fresh content everytime
+ gameplay of course, the best pvp-based survival game right now
+ countless servers to play in, from vanilla to modded, from solo player only to zergs, with weekly/biweekly/monthly wipe schedule
+ every single wipe is different, hard to get bored
+ excellent base building
+ raiding other bases is fun whether it's done online (more competitive and fair) or offline
+ as soon as the devs added monument's puzzles, the looting system saw a huge improvement
+ following the previous point, the extremely recent improvement of AI controlled characters made the pve monuments even better

Cons (from biggest problem to smaller ones in my opinion):

- steep learning curve for the shooting system, with some unbalancement (the AK is basically the king if learned properly)
- it depends a lot of what kind of Rust player you are, but reaching the end game could be very easy if you play in a group. The fact is, I also like a lot the progression that leads to said end game and the steps you have to do before you are able to roam with full gear and AK (kinda boring after some time, see the previous point).
- most of the community as in every competitive pvp-based online game (but you can get some sweet revenge moments here)
- sometimes you will quit a bunch of servers in a row until you find the right one, can be slightly annoying for someone

(last one is basically just a random little complaint, it's not an actual downside of the game)

- building a base in high population servers requires to use tons of doors and passages that usually result in narrow spaces inside the base itself. It can be a little frustrating when your group of players struggles to coordinate and move inside.

Others:

.Rust is a game that requires more free time than most other games, if you like to play like me in very small groups it's even more. Just keep that in mind when you decide to start a wipe (or buy the game), the gaming experience is much better if you have a lot of free time to spend.

So, what does this game needs the most? Just some new weapons and a little rework of some other ones. The AK is too good in terms of damage and too hard to master while other early game weapons are too weak and barely used. I'm just tossing a random idea now, but for example adding a cheap long range weapon (maybe a 9mm pistol caliber with not-so-high damage) to use while reaching the end game could be a nice extra. I made this example in particular because if you want to use a proper sniper in the current game you are forced to find rare weapons and losing them can be a big loss. Something like that along with new end game weapons would be perfect.

For nearly any other aspect Rust is an awesome gaming experience I would totally reccomend.
