Democracy 3 is one of the most uplifting and simultaneously depressing games.

Started my first game as the Prime Minister of Canada and immediately began fighting through all the issues. After winning my first re-election in a 77-23 landslide, I'd eradicated homelessness, poverty, and boosted the economy with technology, limits and taxes on the extremely wealthy, and subsidized education. I PUT CANADA IN FREAKIN' SPACE!

Nope, shot in the head by extreme capitalists... *sigh* 10/10

If you'd rather read: Stardew Valley is not a Harvest Moon game. It does play a lot like and take ideas from Harvest Moon. This isn't a bad thing. With an aethestic reminiscient of Starbound, portraits from any given artistic jrpg, and mini-games inspired by a number by a number of different classic favorites, Starbound's charm comes from a wide amalgamation of sources.

The main goal is to stay alive and run a successful famr/ranch/herbalist/fishing/adventuring/mining operation to make your grandpa proud. Also among the to-do list of plot is the rebuilding of the town which can be done through corporate greed or the magic of the forest. True story.

True to this genre, you can make friends and learn their stories, get married to basically anyone who's single, build and upgrade aspects of your tools and farm buildings, and discover forgotten magics and whatnot. The music and ambience are nicely done, with a seeming focus on making Stardew Valley seem really pleasant.

If you enjoy the simulation life; building relationships, levelling stats and equipment, unlocking new stuff to make things more interesting and easier, enjoying the money you inevitably get in the late-game; than Stardew Valley should be right up your alley. Oh, and there's talk of multiplayer, so look forward to that. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Just want an explanation? Well, HPAWP features simple if fun gameplay revolving around making weapons in a smithy. In classic simulation fashion, you keep playing so you can make more and more impressive weapons that are better and easier to make because you were dedicated and played a game. While not overly-involved, things do stay fun for longer than you might suspect.

This is due in part to the feel and comedy throughout the game. An absurd number of puns and pop culture references are sprinkled liberally through the story (Yes, there's a central plot). If you can take a dad joke about potatoes and appreciate the absurdity, you should be okay with the humor in this game. While HPAWP does sport bright colors and a protagonist that is dangerously naive, there are a few adult moments and some stuff a typical kid shouldn't understand. The music is fun and fits well, which is good because that was honestly part of the reason I wanted this game.

So yeah, glad I have this one.

If you'd rather just read here: It's amazing how addicting a game like this can be. So long as you have a desire to try new things and keep pushing to get better, there's not really a reason to stop playing this game. Aethetically it's very simple to the point of crude but it has a style all its own that fits the function of the game just fine. If there's anything you think this game could have used, check the mod community. It does have the occasional bug, typically with text, but nothing is gamebreaking. In summary; simple if charming graphics, rewarding gameplay, decent price (you could always wait for a sale).
