Look, you can't get past the fact that it's going to be compared to L4D. So just get that out of the way first. It lacks the character and charm of it's predecessors. Most of the dialogue feels forced and hollow and just doesn't help me to love these characters. Only 2-3 characters stand out for me that I enjoy out of the bunch. WITH THAT BEING SAID I really enjoy the game play. They did a fantastic job at staying true to the core game play loop of the originals while shaking up the formula to make things interesting. From the card system to the fact that you can outright fail a run helps to add more drama and stakes to your run. The combat is satisfying and responsive, the recoil isn't very pronounced but I personally feel that it works. Mowing down hoards of zombies while also trying to hit week spots on bigger targets would just be a headache with more demanding recoil control. I feel they have a good foundation to build on here so I look forward to how they might expand on what they have going forward.

An interesting 4x with some real potential. I've played my fair share of Civ and I can tell that this is going to get a fair amount of my time on full release. Some minor bugs like units randomly going invisible for no reason or troops stuck on a battle preview on the grid map, but so far nothing game breaking. I really like the visual design for this game. Vibrant, colorful and visually distinct. I still need some more time to dive into the different civilizations you can choose from and the many, MANY different combinations of decisions to expand your empire and influence in the game.
