amazing game i lost count of how many times i cried

Reediting my review bc I have a lot to say about this game. Just finished my second playthrough as the dark urge this time and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game should be the standard for video games. It is so incredibly satisfying after going through games where companies barely listen to the community or take 2-3 years to fully fix their game. Every single aspect about this game is phenomenal from the story, combat, characters, interactions, the choices, and not to mention the romances. I can see myself playing several more playthroughs of this game because of the amount of content there is. If I could write a 50 page essay why this game is an amazing I would do it in a heartbeat.

Not to mention this game has helped me incredibly with coping with some personal events thats happened to me for the past couple years and words cannot describe how much this game means to me.

I've finished Beyond Light and I have to honestly say, It's better than Shadowkeep in most aspects and never in my life I had written such a dedicated review to a game.

Pros:
- Europa is visually pleasing planet and there's ton to explore.
- A lot of places to explore on Europa and during the campaign
- Story and characters were pretty solid along with Variks and Eramis's characters
- Unique looking exotics and weapons
- Boss battles had different and challenging mechanics to them which gave some more spice to it
- Cool cutscene at the end where our guardian fights Eramis finally.
- Bounties and gameplay slightly improved
- Talks more about the Elinski, Variks and Eramis's past
- Eramis is a compelling and cool villian, even if her intentions aren't the best.
- Exo Stranger lore Exo Stranger lore Exo Stranger lore-
- Deep Stone Crypt looks very very ominous and eerie in a good way, can't wait to see it more when the raid comes out.
- Better than Shadowkeep.
- More lore about what Stranger saw in her timeline which is pretty cool ig.



Cons:
- Servers were having trouble connecting at launch
- Strikes have become too difficult if at a low light level
- Some bosses require fireteams to defeat it due to the light level difficulty
- Short campaign
- I wish there was more of a presence for Exo Stranger, Drifter and Eris Morn because it seemed like they were just there just cause.
- I wish we learned more about Exo Stranger instead of her just telling us to "go to darkness, get ice."
- Some of the new face models look off and weird
- It can be hard to see well when a blizzard kicks up in Europa
- Some missions take a while due to high the light level is
- The build up to getting stasis felt somewhat confusing and unreasonable but I get why they didn't let us have it right off the bat.
- Phylaks.
- Something that dissapointed me was how Eramis went out in the end, it made sense how she died but overall it was unsatisfying and she truly felt like a threatening villian other than Uldren Sov.
- I really wanted to learn more about Exo Stranger instead of just reading a lore tab or doing missions to get exposition about Clovis Bray and her relationship with Ana Bray, she's an interesting character but her potential feels wasted.
- Sunsetting in general
- They made the loot pool very small and made raid armor and items unreasonably useless




Overall, I suggest buying this when it goes on sale, for me personally, I bought it since I didn't have anything I wanted all that much in terms of games. But, Beyond Light is kind of worth it if your into the lore and the story and somewhat(?) gameplay, but I suggest playing with two friends so your missions can be easier. It's a step up from Shadowkeep I will admit that but, there's so many ways Bungie could've made this better if they had more time to work on it, (COVID-19 is probably one of the reasons for the setback because ofc) and in the end, I'm leaning towards liking this DLC but I'm also in the middle about what Bungie did or is doing to further better this game but this is honestly my final chance I'm giving Bungie to make this game great.

saw this games downfall coming years ago, maybe dont fire your employees especially key ones and promise a dlc at the same time
