IF you're in it for the multiplayer, maybe wait until the bugs have been fixed.
If you're in it for the single player campaign, it's an Easy Recommend.

The campaign plays and looks the way I remember Halo 2 looking, not the way it actually looked, but the way I remember the game looking. and that is probably the highest praise I can bestow on a remaster of an old classic game.

In terms of the single player/coop campaign... it's a really great PC port with a number of flaws that feel like they could be fixed through patches, it's just unclear if they ever will be.

Despite these flaws I loved almost every minute of it!

In terms of the multiplayer, it has much more severe flaws... which is a shame, since historically it was one of the better Halo multiplayer experiences... to the degree that when Bungie shut down the servers, a group vowed to stay logged in, to keep the servers going for as long as possible. They managed to extend them for 28 days.

But I digress. Problems with hit-detection, shooting the floor with the shotgun can kill anyone close, rockets fired by the rocket launcher will spawn behind you, making you shoot yourself in the back, potentially also betraying teammates... to mention just a few deal-breakers. 343 is working on fixes for all these, though... so if you're in it for the multiplayer alone, maybe wait a bit.

If your thing is the single player campaign, however, Go for it. it wont disappoint.

I absolutely adore this game.

It is a bullet-hell twin stick shooter that is somehow at the same time also incredibly relaxing. Though generally not at the same time... unless you're a virtuoso at bullet-hells.

In terms of mechanics... the overworld does not have a single enemy. the only times you will be fighting are during boss-encounters.

In spite of some flaws I really love this game.

Even more frantic than Doom 2016, you can carry a lot less ammo with you, but if in compensation your weapons do a LOT more damage now. You also have a massive amount of upgrades for every aspect of your weapons and character. Heck, you even have upgrades for your upgrades! Both in terms of your weapon mods, as well as your sentinel crystals.

Music is also even more powerful and visceral than Doom 2016. though I did find that after playing one of the longer missions in the game for an hour or two, the music kind of started fraying my nerves a bit... then again, everything about the game is so frantic that I couldn't really play it for more than two hours at a time... music or no.

Things that rubbed me the wrong way:
Cutscenes in Doom 2016 were exclusive in first person, and Doomguy's gestures conveyed one hundred percent just how incredibly angry and single-minded he was in removing every demon and demonic influence (argent energy) from the face of this dimension... and that gave a cohesive narrative to the entire game. Half-Life did this extremely well as well 17½ years earlier. In Doom Eternal almost every single cutscene is in third person, and while it is effective in its own right, and it gives the developers more freedom in how they can show what is happening... it ends up feeling a little less polished.

You will also see unskippable cutscenes of minor events a lot more than in 2016. Things like doors opening, Doomguy picking up important key-items. It is exceptionally bad when you get a checkpoint *before* you pick up such an item before a huge fight that you keep dying on. I get the rationale behind it from the developer's side, it's a reminder of your objective: "remember? take this over there." but it just feels tedious after a while... and as I said, the majority of these are unskippable.

In terms of bugs, I only encountered a few time over ~49 hours of gameplay. Once the game told me in the middle of a mission that it couldn't save. no explanation as to why, or what would happen if I exited the mission... bad timing, because it was around 2am and I really wanted to just save and go to bed. I didn't trust the saving after that and felt compelled to play for another hour to finish the mission...

Another time the game decided that I didn't have an internet connection any more, even though steam and youtube was working just fine. I *could* have continued playing, but it disables all achievement and milestone tracking... so no.

Other than that, the game is incredibly well-optimized... again, not as well as Doom 2016, which seemingly can run on a calculator. but I'm getting sold 75fps on an intel i5 6600k with an RTX 2070 (I would expect the CPU to completely bottleneck the GPU, but no. not even close.)

In other news... with the ammo being so scarce, the chainsaw will now passively recharge one fuel for one attack, and is now your main means of getting ammo to drop from enemies. this is both good and bad. in normal combat it's awesome! run out of ammo, hunt some low-levelled zombie or soldier and bam! ammo for almost all your weapons!

However, this also means that ID had to include adds in every single boss battle... and this escalates to adding heavy and even super heavy demons into boss fights. Which just gets tedious, as you spend more time fighting said adds than you do fighting the actual boss.

but... I still happily spent nearly 50 hours completing the game. So... in spite of all its faults, I love it. That sounds like a bit of an abusive relationship, maybe... but hey, this is DOOM we're talking about, and this time it's Eternal. It aint ever gonna let you go.

Well, at least I don't think I can change it.

A true classic, that has aged amazingly well. It is still beautiful, charming and deep even after 22 years.

As Unreal 1's only flaw was the combat, one of my favourite things with this game is to install the unofficial patch (227i), and the Unreal Tourism mod which removes all the enemies but leaves the world intact.

Then I can walk through the world undistracted, and wonder at Na Pali's beauty and mystery.

A dark and at times gruesome puzzle-platformer. That Limbo and more importantly Inside was an inspiration is obvious.

That is not to say it is a blatant copy however, it absolutely nails the atmosphere, and the art-style and aesthetic is absolutely gorgeous!

Stela is also stable, I only encountered a single very minor audio-glitch during my entire playthrough.

The most beautiful game I've seen in ages, Ori and the Will of the Wisps not only meets the standard set by its predecessor Ori and the Blind Forest, it expands and perfects everything the original had to offer. Play it. Easily one of my Top Ten Games on this year!

They should have sent a poet.

An incredibly relaxing and beautiful experience that will still give your brain a challenge.

The difficulty of the levels can be a bit uneven, you'll breeze through ten levels then one will stop you dead in your tracks like a brick wall across a high way. then after you eventually figure that one out, it's back to breezing through the levels again.

and yet, it's still so darn relaxing that I really don't mind the brick walls. they're really quite beautiful as well when you get up close to them, I guess.

While it is too hard and tedious early on, if you stick with it it does get a lot better. I love the characters (especially Razmi), art, voice acting, platforming, and the story as a whole.

Most of the non-boss enemies could do with halving their healthpool... and some of the bosses could do with doubling it..

The most I can say is that it's a faithful port of the Anniversary edition that came out in 2011. It is not, however, a faithful port of the Halo CE that came out on Xbox in 2001.

I'm giving this a cautious Recommend, with a lot of caveats.

CONS:
  • gamepads are not fully rebindable, but keyboard and mouse is.
  • They've introduced more glitches than the original had.
  • Most of the glitches that already existed has not only not been fixed, they've been made worse.
  • It is not very well optimized, so I had quite a few frameskips, even when playing with classic graphics.
  • The remastered textures feel very out of place, and alter the maps too much from their original feel (example: Truth & Reconciliation is now set in a jungle, instead of a desert), they are also way too bright. you'll never need a flashlight, even at night.
  • If you play on classic graphics, you'll notice that reflections are almost comically wrong.
  • Using the Steam Link to play on a big TV, I had trouble seeing some icons (like weapon pickups), and reading text between missions.

Edit: I found a solution to the weird reflections. Change Crosshair Position to "Centered", to solve it.

PROS:
  • Playing with a controller feels perfect. Even better than it did back in 2001. They've added more settings to sensitivity and deadzones so you can get it exactly the way you wanted.
  • fully rebindable keymappings for keyboard and mouse.
  • Music is as great as it always was.
  • Many of the old speedrunning strats or beneficial glitches still work.
