OK So for starters I haven't beaten the game, original or Deathinitive. I got the franchise pack on sale earlier this year. I was pleasantly surprised today that the Deathinitive edition was coming to PC already, let alone that I got it free (yes I know that some people who got the steam version and the DLC for it did not get it free and that sucks, like, really sucks), but I noticed that the game has a lot of negative reviews on steam, mostly for framerate issues and crashes upon loading a save.

For starters, the crashing upon loading a save is due to issues with maxed out shadows. I don't know why this happens but you can easily turn it down a notch in the old Darksiders II and it should work (it did for me). If you don't have the original version and you max out shadows I'm certain there's a way to edit options.dopt to fix it. The shadow quality is still much higher than the blocky shadow textures in the original version regardless.

Another issue I came across was that the resolution was much higher than it was supposed to be. and since my resolution before was 3840x2160 it resulted in me only being able to see a quarter of the screen. I set the game to 1080p fullscreen before switching back and it worked fine after that. Not sure which of the 2 fixed it though.

As for framerate issues (note that I only tested in the City of the Dead, it's where my save file was when the Deathinitive edition released) I have a GTX 980 running the game at 3840x2160 windowed (forced borderless) with second highest shadow quality, no anti aliasing, and anistrophic filtering on. My framerate didn't drop below 50 during gameplay. That's not great for a game with limited graphics options but you can lower other things. This may just be my graphics card and it may be a serious plague to people with less powerful GPU's (even at 1920x1080) but I can't say for certain.

As far as improvements go it's mostly graphical (although I do like the graphical improvements quite a bit) but I feel like the aiming controls with a controller improved a lot. Before if I did light flicks to position my cursor precisely every 3rd flick would send the cursor flying, screwing up my aim. Fortunately that is no longer an issue. And I don't know if this is typical for remasters of PC games (on PC) but my save file did carry over to the deathinitive edition, which was a nice surprise for me. And of course the game is still very solid on it's own merits. Not the greatest PC port, or PC remaster but it's servicable and the game itself is great. If nothing else it's a better PC port than the one the first Darksiders got.

This is undoubtably my favorite PC game at the moment and ranks very high amongst my favorite games ever. The game has incredible characters, a beautifully well executed moral choice system, genius humor, a gripping story, a solid combat system which seamlessly blends RPG and Bullet Hell, challenging boss fights, abundant replay value, and more. My only "complaints" are that the game is capped at 30 FPS (no big deal in this case), there's no widescreen (not a huge deal either) and that you can only stretch the window to the screen's resolution via the task manager (and there's no way to do borderless). Aside from that I can't say there's anything particularly wrong with the game at least to me.

Pros:
Go fast (sonic, tails, knuckles)
Movement options
Phenomenal controls (don't use keyboard controls for 3D platformers, ever)
shoot the crap out of everything that moves, and even things that don't (Gamma)
Fly (tails)
Glide (knuckles)
Spin Dash (sonic)
Shoot (gamma)
Good level design, for the most part
Functional camera from my experience
No notable bugs from my experience
Extra stuff to do for completionists
Hub world is fun to goof around in, and is small enough that nothing's hard to find
Good boss fights (like Egg Viper, Perfect Chaos, E-101 MKII, and Zero [no not that Zero])
You could call me Knuckles, unlike Sonic I don't chuckle, I'd rather flex my muscles

Cons:
Bad camera from other's experience
Very buggy from other's experience
Amy can be forgettable
BIG THE CAT
Having to redo both Sky Chase's in Tail's Story
Bad boss fights (Chaos 4)
Redoing bad boss fights (Chaos 4)
Most of Gamma's boss fights can be beaten by mashing the shoot button.
