Heard good things about the Postal series from a couple people, and it absolutely did not disappoint. It has DOOM-esque vibes, which has probably been said a thousand times before, but for a good reason. It separates itself from that via the edgy comedy/pop culture references the game has, whether it be via enemy designs or voice lines. Not only that but the arsenal is what makes it pretty unique too, as I’d never think to use “toys” as ammo for my bow, or how I can consume hotsauce and literally burn my enemies alive with piss. It’s such a weird yet entertaining game, making it all seem like a feverdream (which is fitting, because we’re in his dreams).

My only issue with the game would be how loose the plot can be sometimes, and how I’m unable to kill enemies from afar because the game either doesn’t register it or some invisible force blocks my shots from hitting them. Other than that, solid game, if you’ve got the ‘tism or enjoyed South Park you’ll DEFINITELY love it.

as a rhythm gamer and vocaloid enjoyer i'd def recommend playing. it's addicting, there are tons of songs in the base game to work with so you won't get bored, and if you can't get enough there's always the DLC that squeezes in a few extra into the game. i play with both a keyboard and a console controller, it's pretty easy to adapt to either style of gameplay.

the pros:
- easy-to-learn mechanics: you get a tutorial before playing, if you forget it's accessible in the settings
- versatile: like mentioned before, i play on keyboard and controller, if you have the arcade controller it's also compatible
- customization: you can customize a LOT in this game. there are tons of costumes for each character so you can make up your own "loadout" that'll appear on the screen as you play. you can change the notes as well, between shapes, arrows, and the YXAB format. the hitsounds can be changed too.

the cons:
- lack of songs: one thing that bothered me was the fact levan polkka was ONLY featured in the tutorial and not part of the song list. in the other project diva games it was playable, but for some reason isn't on megamix+, which is kind of a bummer.
- game freezing: i've looked around and it seems i'm not the only one with this issue. when playing a song, there is a chance that the game will freeze on you. sometimes i catch this happening most during "challenge time", and other times are just completely random. this problem also happens when waiting for a song to load or while the game is booting up, my only solution to that problem is closing the game via task manager and booting it up again. if it was during a song, i'd just restart it and the lag would go away sometimes. to prevent these lagspikes from happening often, i'd recommend lowering the graphics before playing anything.

conclusion:
these issues may be annoying, but the game itself is still fun to play. i would recommend buying it on sale tho since the base price is like 40 USD, but if you're desperate to get into the project diva series and would do anything for the cryptonloids i'd say go for it.

Early Access Review
came for the violence, ended up becoming a gabriel simp

but in all seriousness, it’s a pretty fun game. due to how fast-paced things can be it can be pretty difficult in the beginning, but once you get used to the mechanics over time you’ll be fine. to achieve the best scores (AKA P-rank), the game awards you for how gruesome, swiftly, and stylishly you can take down your enemies. although a (fun) challenge, it isn’t required when progressing through the main game. if you care about completing the game or care about knowing the lore there are two levels (as of now) that require you to P-rank every level in each chapter, and if you are having trouble achieving that then the sandbox and cybergrind gameodes are great places for practice. there are also quite a couple secrets & secret levels that are easy to unlock and other boss encounters which are also optional to collect/do.

aside from simping for its characters i’m totally in love with the game design and soundtrack, it compliments the chaos as you progress through each level. on top of the amazing plot, references to other media and occasional silliness (i.e. haha funny coin), ultrakill is a pretty addictive game no matter how frustrating things might be. i always find myself coming back to it despite struggling so much the first time around.

After playing this game all the way through I’d say it’s a pretty neat game when you’re in the mood to do some (almost) mindless organisation (either that or if you just like these types of games/have OCD).

PROS:
- The story had some flow to it, some ups and downs and the ending honestly made me happy considering the lore behind previous levels.
- The sounds were amazing, moving things around and hearing their pickup/drop noises was kinda like ASMR to me. As for the soundtrack, it was pretty good, apparently great enough for me to not put on any other music, which says a lot for me considering I need my own music for almost everything to keep me focused.
- The whole aesthetic of the game was beautiful, incredibly detailed despite it being pixelated.
- The playback/GIF feature was pretty cool. Looking back at my progress after each level was satisfying, and it was pretty funny seeing everything jump around before being set into place.
- It’s a great pick when you wanna do something productive, but play at the same time and have fun with it (basically fits what it’s meant to be, a puzzle game).

CONS:
- The redundancy. I understand it’s a moving game and people tend to bring and/or hold on to so many things, but jeez… Girlie keeps way too many clothes and books it started to get annoying.
- Placement “rules”. I understand there’s a feature where the game can allow anything to be anywhere, but in the main game I find myself having to rearrange things from their perfectly good spots because the game thinks that’s not where it should be. Either that, or it doesn’t think a certain item can be placed somewhere, when I can clearly do that in real life.
- Lack of POVS. We all know this follows the life of one person, and seeing the other diaries kind of gave the impression that there would be other lives or perspectives that we’d unpack. Unfortunately not, which was a little disappointing. (Which makes me curious if other POVs are possible, for example if we could follow that of the ex’s perspective…)

CONCLUSION:
Like I mentioned before, it’s a great game to do some mindless organisation. It’s a comfort game I can use to help me if I’m stressed, so I can safely “autopilot” myself as I play. However as pretty and calming the game is, personally I wouldn’t play consistently because of how repetitive it can be sometimes, so instead I’d recommend playing it in chunks to prevent total boredom. I divided my progress over the span of three-ish days, and thanks to that I was able to finish it within that span without getting bored and abandoning it.

If you want to make the game a little more interesting, I’d recommend hopping on a call and screensharing the game with some friends so you can talk while you play, and maybe have them offer challenges (or come up with your own) so you can make your way around em as you play.
