So for the uninitiated:
Nier Replicant ver 1.22 is a remake of Nier Replicant, a game that launched in Japan in 2010. This game is an indirect sequel to another game by Yoko Taro named "Drakenguard" (or specifically, Nier Replicant is a direct continuation of Drakenguard 1 Ending E, the "joke" ending). This game precedes Nier Automata.

This version of Nier Replicant has a few difference to the original 2010 release, most noticeably the remade soundtrack and Ending E, as well as including the original game's DLC, World of the Recycled Vessel/15 Nightmares packaged with it. If you like Nier Automata, Replicant is basically more of the same. That being said, there are a few grievances I have with the game - To get to the various endings of Nier Replicant, you must replay the game from the second half to the end. There is no level select like there is with Automata, however, you can save scum to do Endings C and D. Speaking of Endings C and D, you must collect all 33 weapons to do either of them, which can also be tedious. You can be locked out of collecting certain weapons as well, as you can never return to Part 1 of Replicant without starting a new save file. Ending E is great though. Yoko Taro cooked.

In the end, although this game does have it's flaws, it was an enjoyable experience and worth the money. Would recommend.

Expected cool robots, got depression and existential crisis as I ponder about the meaning of life and the place of humans in the universe.

10/10. Would recommend.

Honestly, this is probably the most well polished and easily approachable to Souls games for those who are new to it. Deserved 2022 GOTY ngl.
