First game I ever played where not only you create a lot of stuff in builk where it's not just all numbers.
YOU create everything, and you define the layouts. Eventually you create a massive infrastructure with a throughput that you can actually see.

It's a lot of fun

It's great in being what it is, an interactive experience.
Moving stories filled with joy and sorrow.

It tells a touching story of a family that has come to ruin.
Piece by piece you unravel a bit more of the family history.

Props to the level designers, the house feels really warm and cozy. Well fleshed out, each room feels like an enboddiment of the person who lived there. ( I loved the plushy squid ). The moment you step inside the house, or any of its rooms it just envelops you.

Negatives,... well it's not really a game isn't it?
So if you're not fond of jumping hoops you'd best steer clear. Or play this at a friends house whom you coaxed into buying this. You greedy selfish person. It takes about 2 hours.

An absolute CLASSIC.

I've had a longing for that feeling I got playing adventure games when I was a kid for ages now. Played a lot of "retro" games in a hope to scratch that itch.
But instead of just trying to hit nostalgia with their graphics like other recent retro games, D-pad entertainment show that they truly understand what it takes to make a an olskool game.

The graphics are amazing, the character animations along with their dialogue really makes them unique , vivid and real.
The soundtrack is finger-licking-good!

Never does the game really dole out the same exact thing twice, with each "chapter" there is something new thrown in the mix that changes the tables often enough to never become worn out.

I'm giving it a 10/10 purely because it struck homerun with me.

But if I do need to give some critisism it is this:

Eventually as i got used to the controls, I found myself doing nothing but dashing to get going. Not that owlboy is slow per say , the dashing felt good, I never really lost control, and that is a good thing. It's just a bit silly to see him carying someone while doing frontflips constantly.

Secondly, actually more imporant, I find the music in this game to be stellar, really befitting of the situations and encounters I came across. But sometimes encounters are rather short, or a timed cutting off the music early or the during the best parts. I had this while exploring as well, especially in Tropos.

A most unexpected pleasure to grace my games list.

+Simple with enough depth due to ability unlocks, a lot of areas become deeper with every mask power gained.
+well-paced, not too hard either, you can choose your own pace, be it slow scouting out everything, or jumping to solutions
+a very enjoyable soundtrack, especially the intrumental music hits a high note, the parts with vocals are also a delight, but the lyrics were a bit too on the nose to my taste. ( there's only a small sung part )
+Map scrubber is awesome ( and nessesary )
+Great Aesthetic
+Well defined & designed characters

- Could be too easy for seasoned puzzlers, wouldn't have minded some more complex or time critical solutions
- Rather short

A journey without end. Taking you on a journey through a lush and rich world that is epic in size, scale and detail.
It's one of the strongest games in its genre, but has many shortcommings that made it feel like a drag rather than a pleasurable experience. It was way too long, with the final story building up to more than it could achieve.
Fights with creatures were rather uninspired and every single encounter felt the same.
Not for a lack of diversity in the opposition, but more because of the rough feel of combat that more than often consisted of waiting on your opponent than for taking the initiative.
Sadly most of the combat comes down to a single strategy, roll/sidestep , attack attack , wait for opening.

Although quests were abundant , you can't shake the feeling of being an erand boy getting sent from point A to point B, where you look around for the things marked in red that will progress the quest.
Now, more than a few times throughout the game, things are not what they seem, and those are the parts where the writing really shines. The quests that manage to get you personally involved bring out more fun and engagement in your decisions.
Though most of the time every single quest follows the same pattern, some of them can fool you in making bad decisions. Sadly, I would've wanted to see some more deeper and involving questlines than the abundance of quests thrown at you.

The writing is excellent and most of the voice acting work was well executed. By the end, you'll really feel for Geralt and his position int he world ( probably because you've spent a solid 60h+ in his shoes , which is an interesting experience. .. but I'm not sure if that's a plus.

There were more than a few bugs and hitches along the way but nothing that is really too gamebreaking. Except for one boss just standing idle while I slowly chipped away at his health. Boss fights themselves never really feel like a boss fight, but more like a more meaty ( == way too much HP ) and a few more moves that ultimately failed to really deliver.

All in all I'd say you aught to start playing it, but I don't believe the ending was worth the journey.
I'd give it a 7.5/10 ( and I'm being generous here, I believe that graphics and vistas make up a lot ).

A must play if you're interested in a mishmash of super metroid and super smash bros!
A very succesfull art style that makes for the best chickens you'll have ever seen, and the pacing of the game is just excellent, you always get to bite a bit more off, and everytime you think you've reached a limit.. you somehow manage to make it.
The idea of using your combat skills during platforming is also very pleasing as your platforming will go smoother with the upgrades provided.

I had a BLAST playing this game. Not only is the story enough to keep you going, the gameplay itself is solid. It's heap of fun to cut up people with that katana and using it in combination with a fun arsenal of toys.
Although it started to drag a bit near the end, the fact that I actually completed this game is sureley a vote of respect of me to the developers and to anyone else who has also finished this title.

As a bonus, you're playing in a beautifull world with some very pretty scenery that I honestly wouldn't have expected in the very first moments of the game. ( The character models look a bit like wax at times )
I'd love to see more of this.
