Receiver is a fairly barebones game that shines through in story and execution. There's no graphical excess or gun modding - just you, a gun, killdrones, and a burning need to survive.

Gunplay is straightforward but reloading is rather involved. Several steps are involved in firing and reloading a gun, differentiating the game from others - the magazine must be ejected, gun holstered, each round packed in, the gun removed, and magazine inserted. Sounds like a chore? It works because the rest of Receiver is uncrowded. Some might say lacking in features - but it's the right amount to allow the gunplay to shine through.
