Really good physics considering the game is 24 years old, the vehicle AI will make your blood boil though.

"It appears that the devastation we brought upon ourselves was complete; Heaven, Hell and Purgatory were atomized as well. So when a soul leaves the body it has nowhere to go, and must remain here, in the Metro. A harsh, but not undeserved atonement for our sins, wouldn't you agree?"

"He was one such man. One who had lost all. Over and over. And to this, he had lost his sanity. His was a never-ending journey away from the phantoms of his past. He believed he could silence the cacophony in his mind and find peace beyond a place he called the Plains of Silence. He now had the vehicle, the weapons, the provisions and the fortitude. He only needed the fuel"

I played Mad Max for the first time 9 years ago on the PS4 (times flies insanely fast wow) and after some hesitation I decided to revisit it again to see how it stands up

The upsides:

-Visually it's a pretty good looking game and not performance intensive at all, the scenery is incredible and each region of the wasteland feels diverese and actually quite interesting (it's just not sand with a few random settlements)
-The characters feel exactly like something out of the movies, they were quite memorable (with the exception of the warpaint bosses which are just copy-paste). I like Chum and Griffa a lot, they're pretty cool
-The worldbuilding overall is amazing and its the main reason of why I got hooked to this game after so many years
-The sound design is incredible making each shot and punch feel more impactful and the soundtrack gets the blood pumping in more tense situations
-Vehicle customization is straightforward and really easy to get the hang of, allowing you to make your perfect Magnum Opus (though I wish we had more warpaints)
-The vehicle combat is great and the implementation of the harpoon and sniper rifle makes clearing bases quite fun!
-Having different types of enemies depending on the time of the day and some real time events makes the world itself feel pretty alive
-It has a really good camera/video mode for taking cinematic shots

Now to the downsides:

-The melee combat is way too basic and it gets repetitive after some time (the addition of some special enemies during the playthrough makes it less boring but the problem still persists)
-Way too much hand-holding when aiming
-Y.P.S (Yellow paint syndrome)
-The vehicle controls feel sluggish and delayed which is kinda annoying at first
-Mine clearing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SUCKS and i would rather watch paint dry for 10 hours than to clear another minefield again
-Scavenging scrap/recovering project parts for the strongholds and doing it dozens of times for each region gets old real quick (and god forbid 100% every location)
-Some upgrades like later V8s are way too expensive and by the time you can actually get them you've pretty much finished the whole campaign
-Can't get the DLCs anymore because the servers are gone

It has some rough spots here and there but I still find it worth playing, specially if you're a fan of the movies

Both the combat and plasmid system got completely overhauled compared to the previous game and it feels quite enjoyable to play (kinda miss mouse selection for weapons/plasmids like in BS1 though).

Even though gameplay-wise it hasn't aged exactly well and it has some audio issues, the atmosphere is unique and the story has still held up greatly over 17 years.

(Oh and don't play the remaster of Bioshock 1, the graphical improvement isn't that noticeable and it is barely functional)

Extremely fun gameplay, an amazing soundtrack and excellent accessibility (featuring proper KB&M controls). Performance can be a bit heavier in some sections but overall it's not that bad.

Funnily enough this game broke one of my cooling fans while beating the campaign on merc difficulty but it was well worth it
