Early Access Review
Terribly difficult to set up local multiplayer, and the game instantly freezes after just a single game of local versus. Maybe it works better online or in solo, but if you wanna play this game with a friend in the same room then you should get something else to play.

There's not much to this game. There are only 4 sports events, which can be broken down further to 2 types of races and 2 types of battles. The name entry screen, a relic of the old Japanese version, allows for a dissapointing maximum of 6 characters for stage and character names. The english translation of this game makes Chroma Squad look like Shakespeare. The AI is dumb as a rock, and online play is virtually non-existent.

So why am I recommending this game? Well, for all it's flaws, I still think this makes for a great local-multiplayer experience. I also love the setting and characters - nothing beats badass Japanese delinquent highschool melodrama. Only purchase if you plan to play it with frends. It makes for some pretty fun and intense competition, at least on the surface. The controls are very simple to pick up and learn, just explain to your pals that you double-tap forward to run and that you can swim faster in water if you are holding an item. These are two "tricks" that aren't explained well, but are easily enough figured out.

I would NOT recommend this game at full price, though. Only if it's on sale.

A pretty good port, but there are some issues with the Chao Garden that never got fixed. Some breeds of chao don't have the right textures, which is sort of annoying. This port also still has the egg color restrictions in the Black Market. The achromatic eggs (white, gray, and black) are available on every save file, but the colored ones (e.g. purple, brown, yellow, red, blue) may or may not be available to you. Your game will select 3 colors you can get and won't ever show you the others.

FOR EXAMPLE: I can only get white, gray, black, blue, orange, and green Chao eggs. None of the other egg colors will ever show up in my game. I cannot get red, brown, or pink eggs without using a Chao editor.

If you care about Chao color, your best bet would just be to download a Chao Garden editor and give yourself the right eggs. It's unfortunate that this pointless feature wasn't fixed for the Steam release, but at least we have mods to fix it.

Keep these things in mind if the garden is super important to you.

It's fine for what it is. Not amazing, but fine. While reminiscent of Musou games like Dynasty Warriors, it's missing a lot of features those games have - features that hurt this game for their exclusion. For example: Special attacks have a long startup but do not freeze your opponents in place in front of you before activation (as in Musou titles). This makes many special moves impractical and hard to land. Their long startup makes them impossible to use straight out of a combo unless you've stunned your opponent. Some characters, like Hanabi, are a chore to play because they don't have any level of super armor when they attack. This hurts Hanabi harder than anybody else, and not just in that it makes her impossible to play online. Higher level mooks that attack you will stagger you: This kills most of the fun I had playing Hanabi. The roll that you can use out of knockdown isn't particularly effective, either. Against certain characters like Ryoubi or when fighting more than one character at a time, you may find yourself struggling to stand back up. The AI isn't all that smart or fun to play against either. Long special attack animations tied with the fact that characters are completely invincible while using special attacks (even ones that miss) means you'll be doing quite a bit of waiting around for your next chance to deal damage.

What this game really is is a waifu dress-up simulator. You like buxom women? You'll get a lot out of this game. You like jiggle physics? You'll really get a lot out of this game. You looking for solid combat? Look somewhere else. While it's great that the on-screen enemy count has improved since Shinovi Versus, dealing with special mooks as some playable characters is a bore in some cases and a chore in most others. There's one special mook in particular that you can only attack after a parry or with special attacks. This slows down combat, and I don't think that's good for a Hack-n'-Slash title like SK:EV.

I don't know exactly why, but I remember enjoying my time with Shinovi Versus on Vita a lot more. Maybe it's just because I played it nearly 4 years ago and don't remember much. Estival Versus definitely upgrades the fanservice, graphics, and the enemy count. All great plusses. What it fails to do it make combat any more interesting or less frustrating than it was in Shinovi Versus. I'd still recommend this game, but there's a lot about it that I simply do not like.

Easily the best arcade-style game on Steam. Absolutely worth the $2.99 price-tag; maybe even more.

While the game may seem simple on the surface, there are actually a little bit of strategy in delivering food to hungry customers. Not only do the variety of colorful customers add to the game's charm, they also have different properties. There are standard customers, fast customers (will walk down aisles VERY quickly and demand their food be served quicker, too), impatient customers (walk at a normal pace, but wil quickly leave if not promptly served their food), and large customers (walk very slowly down aisles and will deplete more of your spin). Having to deal with all of these customer types at once makes the game challenging, but never too frustrating.

There are only a couple things I don't like about this game: First, there seem to be a few minor bugs. Alternate costume unlocks were given to be before I had legitimately earned them, and on very rare occasions I can phase through tables (I think this has to do with taking corners while spinning past customers, but I'm unsure). At the time of writing, fullscreen mode looks a bit ugly on widescreen monitors, too; the big black bars along the sides of the game could've been replaced by simple wallpaper or tile textures. The positives vastly outweigh the negatives, though.
