Do not buy this game.

For whatever reason, the gameplay won't go above 20 fps and the cutscenes won't go above 10 fps. My computer isn't the issue, as none of my resources ever hit 100%. I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Super as my GPU and an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor as my CPU. My computer should be able to run games twice as intensive as this one, and yet this doesn't work.

If you buy this, you're wasting your money by getting a product that sometimes doesn't work. The devs have been at most unhelpful with this, as I don't even get to know why it's happening. Before you ask, yes, my GPU is set in every control panel as the one to use for the game, as well as the fact that I don't even have an integrated card.

Edit: I figured out the issue. It had to do with Steam's integrated controller system. However, given the amount of random issues this game causes that the developers will never fix, don't waste your money, just get Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey instead.

Beat it in 40 minutes. It's a simple gameplay loop really, you keep the light off and flip up camera, start on cam 8 and end on cam 8, if big floppa is on 8, watch until he goes away, check to see if pop cat is on any camera and ward him off if so, then flick down, if bingus is on monitor then leave it down until he leaves. If you hear a knock on the door, turn on the light until your door reappears, then turn off. Rinse and repeat.

Very simple game, but I can respect a game that's based on floppa and is on Steam. I'm going to rate positively since I'm a floppa fan, but I don't think this game is worth $3, I think $1 is a more acceptable price.

Do not play this if you haven't completed Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee.

With that out of the way, this game is insane. It has 3 times the amount of Mudokons to rescue as the first one, making for a game 3 times longer. Besides basically being a movie within a game, there is so much content and puzzles (even unintended solutions). It expands far upon the first one, introducing a plethora of new mechanics to use and abuse. This game makes you feel like the hero when you free Mudokons that are in various states of danger.

The secrets, while fairly well hidden, let you know that they're there, as every screen with a secret has a pile of soulstorm bottles on screen. If I remember correctly, the only secret that doesn't have them is the last one in the game, and even then, the number board lets you know its there. Still, I recommend you look up a mudokon guide and remove all of the text, just preserving the number of mudokons in each area, just so that you're sure you didn't miss any along the way. If you don't care about 100%, then no worries, you'll surely get enough out for the good ending. If you do care about 100%, theres something special waiting for you at the end.

Overall, this series went above and beyond for its sequel, and I can't wait to play Munch's Oddysee.

P.S. I did not play these games as a kid on the PS1, my reviews come entirely from playing them in 2020-2021.

Randomly generates unbeatable maps (gave myself and friends two unbeatables in a row). There is no option to play pre-made maps.

I'm sure they'll fix this stuff, but its broken right now.

There are many, many, horrors and dangers in this game. So very many ways to die.

But if there's anything I've learned, it's that man will prosper. This game can overwhelm you with the danger of the unknown, but the more you learn about your surroundings and the creatures hiding in it, the more you can do about it. As you take each different job on the sub, you learn more and more of what it takes to survive on Europa. Eventually, you will feel like nothing can stop you, no job too large and no task too difficult.

Personally, I've gone from someone who primarily focused on medicine, never branching out into other jobs, to a fearless captain who reaches deep into the abyss for a new enemy to fight. I can do any job on the sub, and am a very valuable crewmate for it.

In the campaign mode, the actions of your crew will affect the world of Europa around you. The more you help to fight and reclaim in various missions, the more the civilizations of Europa will prosper. Ignore the needs of your people and expect to deal with an even more cold and unforgiving ocean, not having access to necessary resources and missions to continue.

Overall this game is amazing, and to top it all off, the developers want nothing more than to just keep adding new content. You should definitely buy if any of this experience is what you want.

This is a really amazing game. I recommend people who like hardcore survival games. In Don't Starve there are lots of ways to die other than starving like spiders, fire, hounds, earthquakes, darkness, freezing, bees, beefalo and so many other things. It's a very fun and challenging game.
