7 days to die is a fun game, especially in the first few playthroughs where you have no idea what you are doing, you're injured, starving, and being hunted by zombies. Sadly, the novelty quickly wears off as each playthrough becomes a boring slog for 75-100 books to get back to where you were. At 27.99 this was acceptable, as the game was still in development, on frequent 75% off sales. Bugs, glitches, lost saves, performance issues and the like were understandable given the guise of early access.

This all quickly became unacceptable when TFP decided to add new armor, challenges, reskinned a couple enemies, bikes, added a handful of POIs, and hiked the price to a whopping $57.99 CAD ($45 USD). Absolutely unacceptably poor performance even on top end hardware with a slew of bugs, duping glitches and lost saves to rival even the likes of ARK: bug report evolved.

It's a real shame they went the route of shilling so hard to sony that they let them dictate their game. I will not give one of the most hacked corporations my personal information. Would gladly refund if I could. PS: Playstation studios, you can hold this indefinitely.

Update: They can hold this until helldivers 2 is re listed on the 180 countries they blocked it on.

TLDR: Helldivers 2 good, sony bad.

75% of my playtime was lobby simulator. I was unable to refund the game because my first couple hours on release were spent waiting for a lobby :) Therefore, they can hold this negative review for perpetuity.

So, here goes nothing.

Gameplay wise, great game. AI actually feels hard to beat sometimes, albeit the hordes of elites appearing in high difficulties are quite random and can be run killers, but that's part of the fun, and not a complaint. A lot of the enemy types are actually engaging, and require more than a faceroll of the keyboard to dispose of. Team cohesion is actually important, and the game doesnt feel like a solo carry most of the time. You cant just run at enemies on max difficulty with a tanky class, because some enemies will stonewall you and laugh at your pathetic attempt to pass without your team.

Many of the weapons feel amazing, and are very fun to use. The psyker class is particularly unique, and has earned my favor with ease. The staffs feel super fun to play with, and have different play styles.

Unfortunately, that's where most of the good ends.

The weapon system is an abhorrent mess of RNG. TLDR; you can get up to two blessings and 2 perks on a weapon. You can only currently re roll one perk, and 0 blessings. Base weapon modifiers are also random, and cannot be changed. This makes the entire system a clown gamble, which I refuse to continue to partake in.

The long explanation below, for those who enjoy walls of text:

Yeah, so let's say for the sake of the argument you get a god tier roll for all the base weapon modifiers you want. (damage, cleave, cleave dmg, mobility, etc)
Let's also say its a low tier weapon. so you spend some time grinding materials to upgrade it, and you then max it out.

If you face the reality I and many other players face which is 95/100 times you are not getting a desirable weapon. If both of the blessings are bad, you're immediately screwed. If both perks are bad, you're also screwed, as you may only reroll one. The amount of rng you need for a truly good roll weapon is actually disgusting.

To try again you have to go play the gamble of waiting an hour for the shop reset, hoping you get a weapon with good base modifiers again, and praying that rng doesn't absolutely ♥♥♥♥ on you again. No thanks, unless they fix this absolute mess of a game, I'm good.

Crafting aside, I didn't even delve into the rancid cess pool which is the bugs in the game, and the rampant crashing issues that many players commonly run into. It's uncommon to run a public match for more than 20 minutes WITHOUT seeing at least one game breaking bug, massive FPS drops, or someone crashing and being replaced by a bot with an aptitude for suicide.

Very fun game, tons of content, and many mods to play and experiment with once you're done with vanilla. Learning curve is a tad steep, but totally worth the time.
