The name is based upon the brilliant yet little known millitary leader Edward of Woodstock born 15th June 1330. He was born a prince (son of Edward III of England); from an early age he exhibited an extraordinary aptitude in millitary tactitional thinking. In later life he went on to win several impressive battles revolutionaising warfare during this period; indeed he bacame the first Knight of the Garter (an order he was co-founder of), furthermore he beacme much beloved by both the Welsh and English, an impressive feat for any man. Sadly he died before his father, the only Prince of Wales to do so, so the crown fell to his brother Richard II. The rest is history...
