This is a fun, chill game full of terrible puns. A lot of games give me anxiety when I just want to relax so it's super refreshing to have something fun, that doesn't take itself or the need for frustrating challenge too seriously.

The first game in this series is one of my all-time favorite games. So good that wehn I heard VC2 and 3 were more like angsty, anime high school dramas, I skipped them to not soil the memory.

But I gave 4 a shot and am pleased with it. I've missed this world, artstyle and gameplay a lot. It plays very much like the first with a few adjustments that maybe appeared in VC2 or 3. Grenadiers make a huge difference in how battles play out and I remember a lot less anti-tank ordinance in the first (used to be tanks and lancers mostly) but it works.

The cinematic style is the same as the original but a bit clunkier than I remember (broken down into small pieces of narrative between missions that you have to button through and the story hasn't grabbed me as much as the first yet (again, i LOVE the first game.) Claude and Riley are going to have a hard time filling the boots of Alicia and Welkin but there's still time.
