I received this game from a friend after voicing my desire to try it out someday. Now that I've completed the game, it is time to make my review.

Introduction
Cult of the lamb is a rogue-lite, base management game at its core. And while it could receive further tags, this is its two primary components.
In this game you play as a lamb, and you are slowly restoring the power of your crown through the improvement of your cult base, and defeating bosses. You have 'finished' the story, when you restored the full power of the crown and face the final boss.

Graphics
The graphics in this game are definitively unique. Which reminded me partially of Paper Mario:TTYD.
It's very pretty, and hardly performance heavy. I really liked it.

Story
The story characters are definitively not memorable except for the final boss and the lamb. This game doesn't have much lore, and while you can piece together a rough timeline of the world, there isn't a whole lot to dig under the surface. The plot itself is also relatively simple.

I can neither say this is a good or bad thing overall. But I will say the simple story doesn't harm the rest of the game.

Gameplay
The game has two main gameplay elements, the rogue aspect and its base management aspect.

The rogue aspect is exactly what you'd expect in other rogue like games, you start a new run you fight monsters, and you defeat the boss. Rince and repeat. More on that later in this review.

The base management aspect is rather entertaining, the game makes an excellent job at showing what you must do and watch out for. As the cult leader, you have to recruit followers which you can find while exploring the surroundings of your base or during your rogue runs.
After having acquired a follower, they become part of your cult. And much like other management games you have to take care of their needs, whether it be accommodation and nourishment or their... sanitary needs. Overtime your followers will grant you points which you can spend in upgrading the stats of your lamb for its rogue runs, or improving your cult base.

There's however a catch, in order to progress the game's story you must acquire a certain amount of followers. Which means as you get close to the end game, you will have a lot of followers and this on itself can be problem because while you do the rogue runs, your followers will start to go hungry or die of old age, both of which need to be taken care of otherwise your cult will collapse. This means that after each rogue run you will spend between 5-10 minutes taking care of your cult before going back in, and while there are ways to shorten that time you will only know how once you've reached endgame at which point it is pretty much useless.

Having to take care of your cult after each run, does significantly increase the game lifetime. The game has a total of 16 levels before you may face the final boss, which is not a whole lot. So having to watch over your cult after each run is a welcomed thing, on top of refreshing your mind and gameplay. I can see this however become a problem if you are not too good at the rogue aspect of the game. There's probably a right balance between the two aspects the game could strive for, but I think it is already close to said balance.

The rogue aspect
At the beginning of each run, you'll be given a weapon whose type will vary between, claws, dagger, sword, axe, heavy axe. And a power (in game called a curse) to use against your enemies.

You will be given the ability to switch weapon or power through the run, though again that too will be random. This does mean that you need to get familiar with all weapon types and powers, otherwise you might perform very badly in some runs.

While in your rogue runs, you have the ability to dodge attacks. Which is a double edged sword, while it can grant you full immunity to the attack you are avoiding, if you don't pay attention to where you are going, you will lose health.

The enemies that you face will get increasingly tricky to deal with as you progress through the game. But all of them are unique in their own ways. However none of them ultimately pose a real challenge.

Finally the rogue runs have bosses, well bosses and super bosses. The bosses you will meet are often a powered up version of another base enemy, with added quirks and smarter AI. Depending on which kind of enemy they are based from, they might be a breeze or tough to pass.
Super bosses on the other hand, are story related bosses, which are much tougher to fight than regular bosses. They only show up once and then never again. (Well there's a way to fight them again but i'll let you find out)

Conclusion

The game is definitively worth your time. and you should try it out. The base management aspect can be overwhelming if you are only interested in the rogue part. But do remember that only 16 levels separate you from the final boss, so if you are rogue expert, you might not enjoy the game if you blaze through it. Try enjoying the base management aspect, but if you don't that's alright.

As a somewhat adept rogue game player myself. When I first tried this game, I picked the hard difficulty (there is a difficulty above that) as I often expect the normal difficulty not to be enough of challenge for me, and the hardest difficulty to be unknown waters. And well, even the hard difficulty wasn't that hard. I died to two story bosses, but everything else was defeated on first try, including the final boss. Adding on top of that, the game gives you methods to extend your runs (which I did not use until after defeating the final boss), and I do really think the game is too easy if you've played games like this before. So consider the bold claim of trying the game on hardest difficulty right away.

I hope this information was useful to you, I'm now going back to overwork my followers.

I was given this game during its weekend discount. I knew nothing of it and went in blind. And while the game turns 7 years old as of the writing of this review, I'm hoping this will be useful to future buyers.

Graphics
Despite its low specs requirements, this game looks quite good. Its low specs requirements also make it a game that will run butter smooth on recent hardware.

I haven't encountered any fps drops, or crashes while playing this game.

Story
The story is quite interesting, albeit very crude in the manner it's delivered. You will have pay attention to dialogues going on over the radio while in missions that don't leave you much time to listen to anything. Bits of it are also scattered as videos/cutscenes that you'll be able to watch after completing a mission, under a tab the game calls 'evidence'.

You are expected to piece everything together, and while the game will hold a plot thread at the start. Once you are dropped in the main game area, this stops. Rather abruptly I might add.
Only to be picked up again near the game's end.

Gameplay
The gameplay revolves around gun fights. There are no puzzles or mysteries to solve, the closest you'll get to a puzzle are fetch missions.
The fights are entertaining, you are expected to be aware of your surroundings, covers locations, map layout and enemies positions and behaviours. Not paying attention to any of this, can lead to a very quick death. Enemies also later come in elite forms, where they have armor/shield and overall smarter AI, which means you'll also have to account for priority targets. This makes for entertaining fights and feeling good about outsmarting your enemies. However once you get used to this, it becomes too repetitive as the game just doesn't have anything else to offer.

Multiplayer
Going in blind, I was surprised to learn this game had multiplayer. As I only expected to play co-op with the friend that gave me this game. The game acts sort of like an open world, you have the ability to team up with other players that you meet close by to fulfill missions. Which adds a layer of immersion to the concept of 'The Division'.

When I tried this game, new players just like me were showing up. I don't know how the population is normally outside of discounts, but considering the game is 7 years old this is a good sign in the sense if you too at the time you read this review buy the game during a discount, you are most likely gonna meet other players trying it out for the first time.

Farming
I was sorta disappointed to learn this game had a grind systems. As your weapons slowly become obsolete the further your progress in the game. Fortunately my expectations were flipped, and it isn't hard to find or buy yourself new weapons to keep up, as you complete missions.
I do think however that, just like any loot farming game, this must gets really bad post-story and you reach endgame. Should I decide to continue playing the game after the story, and try the endgame I will update this review. However considering Division 2 is out, I don't think I will, nor do I think you should neither.

Conclusion
I had fun trying this game, the story is good but definitively not outstanding. Buy this game if it's on a discount. I do not think I will stick around for the endgame considering its weakness on a gameplay level.

From the ashes of depravity, rises the phoenix of quality. How else to describe the Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe?
Such a revolutionary step forward in the lineage of one of the most beloved video game properties of all time. The additions and changes made to this expansion will surely resonate in the history of all media.

It is perhaps true to say, that no mistakes are forever etched in stone, for the stone that the Stanley Parable is carved has itself been transmuted offering a message of hope to those who have ever erred in their judgment. You are not beyond redemption, you may change, and you may become more...so much more than you were before.

If there is any message to be taken from The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, it is this: What a fortune, a privilege, a joy it is to have had such an experience. It leaves me hopeful that as a community, as a world there is time for us to become our greatest selves. As great as we ever could dream of in our wildest, most ambitious visions for a brighter future.

Incredible game!
The levels are full or surprise and all different, and top of that the music for each of them is amazing.
The fighting system is quite much like DOOM 2016 except with a few additions.
- Bloodpunch / A special ability that you fill through glory kills. Incredibly fun to use on horde of enemies, or to destroy the armor of that one Mancubus Cyborg that is bugging you.
- Flamethrower / Another ability, allowing you to make your enemies bleed armour. If you time it properly you'll be a ruthless killing machine.
- Grenade / The third and final ability, while it is mostly useless (as in, you can progress through the game fine without it). It is always fun to drop one in a patch of enemies.

Speaking of enemies, a lot of new enemies have been added (mostly from the first games), but also brand new ones. That are definitively worth checking out, and fighting! Properly identifying the top target is the key in winning fights in this game.

As for the story it contains "less" narrative than DOOM 2016, however you'll have plenty to read through your codex logs. But if you're not a fan of reading, you can still progress through the game and understand the story with just the few narrative it has.
And if you're interested in visiting & learning about the Slayer origins. Then the game won't disappoint.

Overall, I consider DOOM Eternal as a very well made game, and if you can you should definitively buy it.

Early Access Review
This game is well.. Interesting..

The graphics & story are nice, but beyond that the game has nothing to offer gameplay wise.
You may only pick between two classes basically berserker & archer even though they're not called like that that's what they are. So if you wanted to be a magic caster or healer well you can forget that immediately.
Most if not all fights you'll do are basically hit the monster/boss run away, let them do something, hit them repeat...

If you happen to live in a country where the norm for keyboard isn't QWERTY you're basically screwed. You won't be able to rebind the controls to something that will put you at ease to play. (Luckily for me I've a spare QWERTY keyboard so I could play the game normally still) But that doesn't change the fact that disallowing key bindings is terrible.

Moving on to the final part, if you believe you'll be able to customize your character or change your weapon appearance. Well then again you can forget, any customization is locked behind a DLC that you'll have to pay. There's nothing you can earn in game to modify your character.

Overall I heavily recommend against this game, at least not in its current state. You're better off trying something else.

I doubt I ever will play more of this game, but all the time spent/wasted on it, has been worth doing.
