Per CVE-2021-34170, remote attackers can execute arbitrary code on your machine if you play Dark Souls III online. (In other words, it is a major security risk that is not just confined to your game data; in theory this could completely brick your computer or worse.)
I strongly recommend against purchasing this game until such time as it is resolved.
