Fun if you like base development, character management (hey you can even re-customize your character anytime), scavenging, and wave mode defense (solo or co-op). Not so much fun if you're looking for a story driven game like the solid series. As for microtransactions, they are present but you never need to buy anything, the game is PVE, and you can unlock everything by playing the single player campaign.
