Granblue Fantasy Relink is a bit of an anomaly. It's main story is pretty short with most people beating it in around 15 hours of exploring areas with set piece story and boss fights, while the bigger post game portion is more Phantasy Star Online/Monster Hunter style quests against standalone bosses and the like. It's a game that switched developers midway though and is related to a browser/phone game that's English version is almost an unkempt secret. So with all of these things seemingly going against it... why is this game still an absolute joy to play?

The plot is approachable for newcomers to the series (like me when I started), as it is more it's own thing like an anime license game story. It's not something I would call great, but it has fun bits and great set pieces and fun characters with great designs.

Speaking of character design and the visuals, this game is absolutely gorgeous. Technically it is a bit behind, but the art design and the colorful aesthetic are just something I love. The music is also fantastic, with a fairly varied soundtrack, going from typical fantasy tracks to things like rock with certain bosses.

Gameplaywise, it's an action RPG with a bunch of characters that all have their own quirks so there is absolutely someone for anyone to love using (I personally really like Racham's mad daka-daka and Percival's charge focus) and the gameplay itself is fast paced, exciting and my god we have an action game like this were blocking is not a waste of time!

Major recommendation for fans of action RPGs and games with a lot heart in them.

"Insert a comment about having been a fan of the series for X years"
Ok, to honest I am huge fan of mecha but I have not had as much experience with the series as I would like: 2, Silent Line, 4 Answer and 5.

I absolutely fell in love with this game. Love the very highspeed gameplay with a lot of customization options. There is a setup that works with everyone (that is not just the one you are thinking off) and there is a bunch of little things one can change to make the build yours. Missions are fine short bursts and bosses are mostly good (aside from a few certain someones). The game also runs and looks really good. I had 2 crashed during my over 45 hours, but most of the time the game worked really smooth.

The 20-30 hours it roughly takes to beat the game once is a great length and there is still a good amount of NG+ stuff to encourage multiple playthroughs.

That being said, I still have a few nitpicks. I wish you would have a few more options earlier on and wished there was a few more heads.

Overall, if you are a fan of action games, trying Armored Core 6 comes highly recommended. My favorite game of the year so far.

A game that while on the surface might only have limited appeal is actually one of the best JRPGs of the year. A fun and simple combat system that still tests the player on strategy, resource management and thinking ahead more than even some of the classics of the genre. The story might be rather simple, but it drives the feelings home and has enough sad twists to keep our a bit tropey, but fun cast on their toes. The graphical style and the music are also very good, with nice designs and animations. There is also replay value with new game plus.

I can recommend the game for anyone who isn't afraid of the visual aesthetic or a game that can get a bit heavy on the feels. It's the biggest surprise of the year and (depending on how SMT V later this year does) my favorite RPG this year.

A really fun Metroidvania-like game with solid gameplay, great sprite art, good music and a story that can be semi ignored by newcomers to the franchise, serves old fans quite nicely. If I had to find faults, I would say that the game is a tad short and the bosses can be at times a tad too easy.

Overall, I enjoyed the game with more playthroughs sure to come.

Roughly 50 hours played on a collection of 2 arcade games you can beat in an about an hour each should say something. Tons of variety for a game like this, good music and fun gameplay that just begs for a playthrough every month or so, especially the second game. If you liked Dragon's Crown, this should be right up your alley!

The combination of Megaman Battle Network-style grid combat and Slay the Spire like card collecting elements is a very strange marriage, but for every stumble of the system, it takes a leap with fun "Just one more run" gameplay and fun deck variety.

Every player is bound to find their favorite cards (Underflow is just super usefull) and the games music never leaves a dull moment, I'm not personally the biggest fan of this kinda pixel arty style, compared to say well drawn HD spirtes, but the style works. Now someone make a mod that makes the targeting reticle easier to notice!

Comes recommended for fans of Battle Network, Rogue-likes and players who truly want bang for their bucks!
