Why Am I Like This?
I am me.

Aspiring Author. Well on the way with rewriting a baseline document (and short story) for a semi-hardfi (it has some soft sci-fi aspects like interplanetary and interstellar FTL, the former as a plot device, but is otherwise pretty hard-fi) before moving on to the military document which is the main driver behind rewriting the whole thing.
Builder. Has over 1k hours in Space Engineers (good lord), specializing in subgrids, systems, and interiors. Should play more Starship Evo. Should finish Terraria. Should also beat Minecraft.
Camouflage Nerd. Will likely be able to identify nearly any post-WW2 infantry camouflage pattern shown (save for Russian and Chinese ones because I don't like them/their camos are boring), can identify some post-WW2 vehicle camouflage patterns but basically no aircraft patterns (save for the USAF woodland thingy that GDI A-10s use in TibDawn) and no ship patterns (save for dazzle schemes because dazzle is cool). BDU/DBDU/DCU enthusiast.
Casette Futurist. Adores the aesthetic of Alien and Aliens, along with the aesthetic of US Navy ships from the late 50s thru the mid 80s. Intends to arm his Corinthian ships with twin-arm missile launchers because of that.
Cyberpunk Science Fiction Fan. Adores Blade Runner, also adores 2049. Adores Halo 3 ODST (it's Noir-Cyberpunk and if you think it's anything else, save for just plain noir or some other variety of noir, you're dead wrong). Currently playing Cyberpunk 2077 because it's in the genre, very gud. Has listened to Neuromancer on audiobook but wants to read it in print, along with the rest of the Sprawl Trilogy. Will also get involved in a Cyberpunk 2020 or Cyberpunk RED TTRPG game if/when we can get that going. Thinks Edgerunners is an excellent show (it almost made me cry, something shows in a cyberpunk setting or shows following a cyborg main character/cyborg characters in an ensemble cast tend to do). Adores the original Ghost in the Shell movie (give me Batou's eyes, my character for the aforemention Cyberpunk 2020 campaign will have them). Also adores Standalone Complex and Standalone Complex 2nd GIG.
Former Engineer. Was going to college for Mechanical Engineering but it didn't go well.
Former Halo Fan. Likes the older games from CE-Reach, likes the RTS games (why isn't Wars 2 on Steam 343), would love to play more Sins of the Prophets, but is overall burnt out on the franchise.
General Science Fiction Fan. Should really get around to watching the rest of DS9. Likes Mando S1 and the Mando culture aspects of Mando S3 but overall feels that it peaked with S1. Also enjoyed Ahsoka. Would have preferred it if Ashley Eckstein just dubbed over all of Rosario Dawson's dialogue across Mando S2, Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka. Grew up watching The Clone Wars and adores it, didn't care for Rebels upon launch but upon Disney+ releasing gave it a watch and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hard Science Fiction Fan. God I love Nukes. Hasn't finished Leviathan Falls yet because lazy, getting into Honorverse (is very good). Adores the RDM BSG reboot (despite the issues with S4, the visuals and music are more than enough). Loves Babylon 5 and Cowboy Bebop (they aren't the hardest of SF but they are hard enough). Still hasn't seen The Last Starfighter. Was surprised to see O'Neill Cylinders in Gundam and as such really likes Gundam (UC stuff only so far, not the hardest of SF but coming from the likes of Robotech and Evangelion I was not expecting to see ammo limitations, travel times greater than near instant, and O'Neill Cylinders, let alone O'Neill Cylinders at Lagrange Points, let alone the main setting being only the Earth-Moon system, in a mecha anime). Massive Battletech enjoyer, Free Worlds League/FedCom stan and as such will fight you if you stan Kurita or Liao.
Industrialist. Should definitely play more Factorio and get addicted to the crack that it is before making this claim. Should also play Satisfactory on account of DigitalVagrant's recommendation, and DSP on account of a trans friend's recommendation.
Jewish. Aw yep.
Milsimmer. Loves Arma 3. Needs to play more DCS. Used to play Planetside 2 but the group he played with disbanded in January 2023 so no more PS2. Needs to actually play Squad and Post Scriptum because he spent like $60-80 on both of those games. Enjoys using thermal imagers, image intensifiers, anti-tank missiles as surface-to-air missiles, anti-tank missiles in an anti-infantry role, anti-tank missiles in their intended role, stabilized machine guns on vehicles, stabilized autocannons on vehicles, stabilized cannons on vehicles, stabilized anti-tank missiles on vehicles, and general purpose machine guns.
Space Enthusiast. Should play more KSP and buy a telescope before making this claim. Owns most of the Lego NASA Sets: Saturn V Rocket, Lunar Excursion Module, International Space Station, Space Shuttle Discovery, Perseverance Rover (with Ingenuity Flyer), and SLS w/ Launch Complex. Will somehow get the new Creator Astronaut set. Might modify the Discovery with bow thrusters a la Columbia in Wild Horses. Is also looking into possibly making a 1:70 scale Lego M4 Sherman for this reason. Should also find the Lego Ideas Curiosity Rover for secondhand sale somewhere and buy that (not getting the Technic Moon Rover because the Technic Perseverance Rover hurt my hands).
Strategist. Should definitely play more Stellaris and get into Total War before making this claim. Has seen all of Legend of the Galactic Heroes (working my way through Gaiden) though so I guess that helps.
Tactician. Should definitely play more Company of Heroes, Dawn of War, and Homeworld before making this claim (turns out I don't suck at Dawn of War because I've played some now and didn't die, I love Guard Arty. Also with Homeworld 3's launch I have played it and I don't suck at it).
USGI Equipment Enthusiast (mid/late '80s through early '00s). Knows quite a lot about basically anything issued for use with the ALICE system or issued for use by the US Army from Grenada to the Gulf, along with some choice MOLLE (mostly because I own a near full set of USGI kit from the period [all I need now is a real or clone M16A2], however some of it was produced afterwards I.E. the DBDU PASGT vest cover I own was made in 1991, contrasting my DCU cover which was made the year prior. The choice MOLLE gear being an Interceptor vest in BDU with a mixture of double M16A2 mags, double 40mm holders, and a SAW pouch being used as a dump pouch, and a DCU FLC).
More to be added at some point in the possible future should I decide to do so.

Ah yes, Dawn of War. The single best Warhammer 40k RTS game for your average fan of the lore, tabletop, the RTS genre, any mixture of the three, or all at once,
While games like Battlefleet Gothic: Armada and its sequel also exist, they both mix naval wargaming with 4X aspects and appeal more to fans of the original BFG specialist game, myself included, see below.
I first learned about this game circa 2012 or 2013 when my father installed it and its first two expansions, Winter Assault and Dark Crusade, onto my crappy laptop (it even lacked a real integrated GPU, somehow) via his disc copies of the trio.
While I didn't play much of it, only like the first couple of levels, the game is the sole reason why I got into Warhammer 40k and quite possibly tabletop miniature wargaming as a whole.
Sure, it took me a few years to properly get into the IP (CaptainShack of TheXPGamers uploaded an Ultimate Apocalypse video in 2016, reintroducing me to the game and introducing me to the franchise at large), but when I got into it, it played a major part in my life circa 2016-2018. While my interest in it has declined since (doubly so given Games Workshop's decisions regarding fan works in 2021), and I have done many things to try and distance myself from the IP at large, I will still uphold it as one of the most personally influential games I have played to date, likely second only to Halo Reach.
Without Dawn of War, I probably wouldn't have looked into Firestorm Armada, as my obsession with the Battlefleet Gothic manuals in 2017 would've never sparked my interest in other naval miniature wargames. In the same vein, I may not have even cared to look into other miniature wargames, like BattleTech.
Without Dawn of War, I probably wouldn't have cared to get into Command and Conquer through that one video showcased in a FFF (it got me into Red Alert 2's soundtrack and got me back into metal as a genre, thanks Frank), because when a friend of mine at camp in 2018 was talking to me about C&C, my reference point was Dawn of War, as in DOW you build infantry by squads, not individually like basically every other RTS game of the era. Except for Homeworld 2... huh. I guess that's where Relic started the idea of building units by squad.
Without Dawn of War, I would've taken a lot longer to get into more RTS games outside of Bloons, as through the combined power of Dawn of War and Bloons Tower Defense 3 I fell in love with the genre. I mean, frak, the first time I played the Galaxy Conquest mode of Gratuitous Space Battles I remarked "wow, those alien fleets are taking their sweet time to attack me" not realizing that the game is in fact, a turn based strategy on the map, so without Dawn of War I likely would've never learned the difference.
But most importantly, without Dawn of War I might've never became friends with someone in 2020 who, through my friendship with them (due to a mutual interest in 40k), introduced me to several people who I would say are my closest friends to date, not to mention basically everything that makes me who I am today, and my second most played game on steam, Arma 3.
Gud game. Relic usually hits the mark with their RTS games, and like Homeworld before it and Company of Heroes after it, Dawn of War hit that mark.
We don't talk about the third one, that one did not hit the mark, and while they made up for it somewhat with Age of Empires IV I've heard that COH3 has been a bit mid at best.
I should play COH2. More of it anyway, that one time circa early 2020 in a robotics discord call does not count.
