Been playing since D1 Just after house of wolves. The game has more content than back then but does have its problems as of this date. Lack of meaningful progression and no real emphasis on balancing i pvp are downfalls to it as well as cheating, that's still rampant in casual and comp pvp modes. Good stuff for a new player coming to the game is the amount of story campaign they will get and the community on whole is good. No other game on the market is like Destiny, movement and gun play feel great and the power fantasy element is awesome. You just need to look at the supposed "DESTINY KILLERS" in games people said would kill it off have all been killed off themselves.
