The Star Ocean series has been my favorite from the beginning, ignoring Integrity and Faithlessness, this is a great entry into the series.

If the combat was any smoother it would be baby oil and Vaseline, most characters feel different and unique from each other (mostly).

The dialog and Voice Acting is amazing and pretty fluid, the roaming banter is very amusing. The duel audio is a huge boon to this game, most jrpg's now a days lack this and they suffer for it.

I got a stable 60 FPS, with preference to image quality, 99% of the time. I did notice that in a couple small sections of some locations, FPS would drop to the low 40s and high 30s. but even then it was only 2 or 3 spots. as for how it looks? better than i expected and my expectations were already high.

Sound track and over world music is also absolutely fantastic, i love the opening song Pandora by HYDE. Square rarely has bad music though.


Load times are almost nonexistent and it has yet to crash on me. this was a great launch with little to no major bugs. those saying it has been buggy for them need to not try running it on a 10 year old potato.


Hopefully this keeps tri-Ace above water long enough to get Second Evolution R released worldwide, and save the company.

I highly recommend people buy this, if you want a great jrpg.

I played this when it first released on PS2, so i have excited to play it again. I even waited for my steam deck to buy it, to play it on the go and at my PC when home. Sadly that's not going to happen ATM, seeing as Bandai (or Steam, idk which) decided to disable Cloud Save for .Hack//G.U.

Who made that decision? cause every other single player game on steam has Cloud Saving.

when are we getting the feature re-enabled? cause this alienates Steam Deck users.

i have countless hours in this game, and not one was wasted. you'll love this game

Really worth the money for this. You will never get bored with this game, ever.
