Picked this up recently after feeling the need to play some snooker (which of the time of writing this is currently impossible irl !!) I've sunk a good 50 or so hours in and it is a solid snooker sim. Many of the gripes have been mentioned in other reviews, so I can't really add much more than what has already been said. That being said, my pro's & cons are:

Pros
  1. As it's an official game, you have all the players and tournaments which adds to the feeling of the game when playing
  2. Table & ball look & feel is great with finger marks, chalk marks etc
  3. The physics do a good job of representing real life
  4. A good variety of line helpers
  5. Controls are decent, when you get used to them

Cons
  1. The difficulty settings are very strange - it's far too easy on the 1st couple of settings (not tried hard yet, though)
  2. Players look dated and devoid of any kind of emotion
  3. No overhead view which seems very strange - this also makes it quite tough to judge escapes
  4. No custom player creation - you have to pick one of the pros already in the game
  5. An incredibly short tutorial, so beginners will have a tough time if unsure of the rules & gameplay in general

Overall I'm enjoying it and I picked it up in a sale, so was only about £13 - if you can get it on sale, then it's definitely recommended. I doubt you would be looking at a snooker game if you don't play or enjoy it - does very much what it says on the tin.

EDIT: Good news that Denuvo is being removed, so I can change my review to a positive one!

---

Fortunately I had already completed the story before they added a virus as an update.

I cannot recommend this game (however good it may be) whilst this garbage is included....

If you like the following:

- Having 25+ shots and the opposition having 5 and you lose 1-0
- Stating you are going to rest a player then they get angry at you for dropping them
- Trawling through endless pages of wonderkids to find 'the one'
- Tweaking your tactics just because 'you do it better than Klopp/Guardiola

....then this game is for you!

I never played LIMBO (in fact had never heard of it), but I got this in the Humble Bundle May package because it looked different....

Well, it's certainly different - possibly one of the strangest games I've ever played. It gives me a sense of the old Megadrive game "Another World" hell, the graphicial style is similar, albeit not intentional!

The atmosphere and lighting make this game unique, and it's a game you just can't put down. I finished it in about 6.5 hours, but I only unlocked 1 achievement in the runthough, so i'm feeling like I missed a lot of the game!

Would I pay £15 for it? Maybe after giving it a go, but I'd say yes it's definitely worth it.

Thoroughly enjoyable experience, however if you have a GPU with less than 4gb memoey, you WILL have to tweak the system file to stop the game lagging like crazy!

1. Go to Steam\steamapps\common\Ryse Son of Rome
2. Open the "System" file at the bottom of the folder
3. Add sys_spec_TextureResolution=3 and save

Thank me later :)

This game is astonishingly scary!

Yeah the mechanics are not perfect, but like any good found footage film, you have to look past it and see the pure gory brilliance that is Outlast!

If you played Alien: Isolation then you need to play this too.

*I am writing this review off the back of the free weekend*

OK, I'll be honest, as a massive fan of the entire Civ series (from the very first one back in the DOS days) and especially Civ 5 (with DLC's) I was anticipating this game as the new "Alpha Centauri". While this is not the case, it does keep some of the elements of AC (upgradable units for example) it is not as complete as that game felt, which is possibly the reason for some negative reviews.

All this said, coming off some heavy Civ 5 game time over the last few weeks, the free weekend has finally allowed me to get my teeth into BE, and I have to say I was impressed with most of it. It does feel like it could well have been another DLC for Civ 5 as basically the underneath of the game is bulilt off that, but it does have enough little differences that stand it apart. All in all it's hard to give any sort of Civ game a full score off of a day or two's play, but I'll break down what I liked, and didn't like below:

Good stuff
  • The new tech tree makes the whole tech grind seem fresh (could be tweeked though)
  • The Covert Ops system seems pretty slick - even managed a Coup D'etat to be successful once! and it's much quicker and smoother than in Civ 5
  • Late game units are really powerful, and turn aliens to dust (and other factions!)
  • The new city building options to choose specific bonus' to suit your style of play/world etc

Not so good stuff
  • The UI is terrible and almost nausia enducing after a short time - too much blue & green guys!
  • Changes are hard to make when the game is processing turns - if you are in a city you cannot still select buildings and units etc. Civ 5 is much better at this
  • Lack of advanced planet options - in Civ 5 you can really nail down the features to a specific world style which is lacking here
  • Aliens are a joke at the start - you try and be peaceful, and they'll attack you for no reason, and spawn like hell (takes ages to kill them and will easily outnumber you early days)
  • The trading system is poor with the AI asking you for more than they get in return ALWAYS. Some work is needed here.
  • Lack of factions and faction history - would be nice to know some more about the characters you meet in the game, and why they have the beliefs they do.

The good thing is that the not so good stuff can easily be fixed via patches or DLC content. I would say yes as a recommendation if you have experience of the previous Civ games, but if not you'll perhaps not be expecting something from this game which people used to Civ 5 are.

On a sale, grab it it's good fun, but maybe a bit expensive at full price (unless the DLC's will be free patches).

As a massive fan of the films (OK, well Alien & Aliens (has to be the special edition though) I have suffered through some previous franchise games, but this one, well the hype was good, the trailers looked awesome and could it be really that good.....

Answer to that is a resounding YES!

The game follows some time after the 1st film, and well before the second film. Without giving too much away some bad things have happened, and you just happen to fall into it!

The atmospherics are astonishing! The score is beautifully presented and really ramps up when the going gets tense (which is often!) and you can really feel yourself pulled into the action. What if i make this noise or where can I run if I try this are constant issues througout the game.

All in all I would say if you loved the 1st Alien films, then this game is a must (the achivement names are also damn awesome!), and if you haven't seen the alien films then watch them 1st THEN buy this if you loved them.
