If you're interested in some events leading up to Road 96, and the game is on sale, I'd say go for it.

Pros: It's short, generally fun, and you get to see some extra lore for the game. The characters are endearing and seeing more about the events prior to Road 96 is a good treat at a lower price.

Cons: It's short, and the main gimmick isn't as fun. Meeting the characters and choosing some dialogues is about the same as the Road 96, but the "Ride" segments. while visually appealing and somewhat important for character developments at times, they somewhat lessen the experience overall and add a sense of challenge to the game which doesn't really fit the type of game it's supposed to be in my opinion.

I also said short is both a pro and a con, this is because for what the game actually is, it's good that it's shorter. I don't think this type of game would be as enjoyable if it was much longer, unless it was a sonic game or something.
It's a con in that it's too short for any substantial story to take place. You get the general events leading up to Road 96 but it's like eating a cheese sandwich when you're craving a cheeseburger. Yeah it's not bad and it fills you but without anything to sink your teeth into it feels empty and generally like a "better than nothing" game if you like Road 96.

Ultimately, I do like the game and would recommend it only if you're a fan of Road 96. and even then, wait for a sale. But if you got nothing better to buy, this wouldn't be a purchase you would regret.
