This game can be funny but its so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dry it can get boring. The novelty of all the murder and ♥♥♥♥ runs thin very fast. At that point you are just playing a decent but mediocre shooter which as its from 2006 is tedious beyond belief. The whole concept of an early open world is impressive for the time but the 3mph walking pace and loading points every inch will whittle you down like a boring steam review. The main issue for me is the humor, its just really basic , While there is some actually cutting and funny ♥♥♥♥, most 'jokes' fall into being so paste and predictable crap which gets old very fast.

Bizarrely it comes of as comparatively sincere compared to the endless dribble of completely soulless and miserable filler that is shoehorned into the contemporary game.

Regardless of any of that, it is fun and just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ buy it if its on sale you tight ♥♥♥♥♥♥

This game is awful to new players, it is the hardest and most tedious game to learn that I own and should still be in early access. This game gives you the freedom to build nearly anything however it still has some completely arbitrary limitations which I can only guess were done out of laziness. The ocean has the depth of a paddling pool and space starts so low its hilarious, everything you build is hardcapped at around 450mph(700kmh) which cucks any sort of plane. Even the campaign STILL doesn't let you start with custom settings which makes starting it near impossiblel. This base level of ♥♥♥♥ design is made even more unbearable with the god awful UI design that hasn't been updated for about 4 years now. Everything is slapped on your screen without any care for tidiness or any degree of continuity, with some extremely key options being hidden away. For an example of the devs being complete tools was a recent update that Added the option to add Anime voices to your ship... rather than fixing the serious problems they would rather add something as retarded as this. After speaking with the Devs regarding this they were very defensive and were completely nonplussed to the aforemetioned issues and were not planning on fixing them anytime soon.

TL;DR The game is Awful to beginners and has some incredibly lazy design while being seemingly developed by a troop of chimps. Avoid unless you are happy to spend ≈ 200 hours learning the basic systems before even building something.

So, where do I start? it all began on the 25 april, i stumbled across this gem on the store page. after I downloaded it i was enraptured by the glory of the game i was experiencing. Its combat, its beautifully crafted graphics, its flawless matchmaking, i knew it was the one.

I decided to play this game as it looked like ♥♥♥♥ and i was bored,
there are a few routes in the game but its the best part of an hour long but as its free so i really can't complain,
The story/s are based on a lesbian who in turn either visits her 'goth gf' or her suicidal roommate/part time lesbian, the writing is either written by 2 people or someone who has a terrible sense of tone because you go from 'aww funny dog' and 'harry potter fanfiction' to either her hanging herself and/or slitting her own wrists. The crux of the issue is that it takes at either great writing or lots of time to make someone invested in a character and this game has neither. the product ends up feeling half baked and weak.
All the 'twists' were very predictable and had no impact because of a the lackluster character development, see above.

although I believe the story was written by an ape the art style is a saving grace and even though its really nothing new it makes the game playable and adds more atmosphere than the writing ever could. On the other hand the music is very contemporary (♥♥♥♥) but at least fits well with the theme and didn't give me tinnitus.

more indie ♥♥♥♥ but its barely 50 megs so try it out if you want

I have not played any of the previous Shantae games but as there is no story i don't see anything I'm missing out.
As far as the mechanics go the different transformations add variation to the game but it has the annoying quality of making you go back every. single. time you get a new ability because the linear levels have awkward back tracking shoehorned in.
without being too negative the Art and lesser extent music are good but there lacks meaningful content, there are only a handful of levels and with the linear design back tracking it makes playing this game too tedious for me to recommend.

If you want this game because of the art go ahead, but if you want a polished platformer with proper content then go for Rayman Origins/ Rayman Legends because they offer more than this game ever could.

This developer and this game are both jokes and aren't mean't to be taken seriously but even with friends this game is very lacking in; optimisation and anti cheat/ moderation. I admit jumping around with a spacegun and shooting and playdough men has its appeal but the ammount of hackers really ruins all the fun. getting insta killed before landing from the bus is mormal and the ammount of aimbot users is disgusting.

Overall the game is alright for the money but there are many better and free alternatives (cuisine royale) (cough cough) and this game needs to be played with friends in order to have any ammount of fun.
