I can very easily say that this is the finest game that I have ever played. Borderlands 2 is an improvement (for the better) in nearly every aspect of the original game. Borderlands 2 comes with a much better story, much more varied environments and enemies, better user interface and more variety in the way the gear behaves.

The cooperative system is also very much improved in Borderlands 2. The game moved away from using Gamespy for an online lobby and now uses full Steam integration with drop-in and out cooperative play.

The game features 4 new classes (Soldier, Siren, Gunzerker and Assassin) with 2 others available for purchase via DLC (Mechromancer and Psycho). Each class features all-new skill trees that have been mostly well designed and appear to work well for both solo and team play.

Most of the original cast of NPC characters have returned along with a few new ones. The story is very well written this time with an extremely interesting villain in Handsom Jack. The story for Borderlands 2 does attempt to be a continuation of the original game and miraculously improves the previously lackluster story to a point where it now actually makes some sense. The game also includes a TON of sidequests and activities so you can expect to have about 30 hours of gameplay with the main questline and roughly 50+ hours if you include most of the side activities. There are 4 large campaign DLC and a variety of smaller DLC packs which will add significantly to an already huge amount of content.

The only few negative things that I have found in the game include:
1) Less storage space than you had in the original game.
2) Inability to replay echo logs like you could in the original.
3) There is much more dialog (good) but too easy to interrupt (bad) with no way to replay as mentioned in my second point above.

Overall I feel that Borderlands 2 is a huge improvement over the original in most aspects and the many improvements definitely outweigh the few negatives. I have newer games in my library but this one always keeps drawing me back.
