As the game is at the end of its content updates (unless they decide to pull another fast one on us) all I can tell you is that this game is worth the money and the time. Even back in 1.1, I had logged nearly 400 hours into Terraria; coming back years later after missing a bunch of updates, there's now twice the content there was back then, and it's still a blast with friends. And don't get me started on the mods.

Early Access Review
You know, for a free to play game, it's got what it needs to be fun. It's a simple, fun, shoot-em-up game with three modes, and each of them are pretty easy to understand. You've got wheels, treads, hoverblades, rotors, jet boosts, mech legs, and all that jaz to move around the battlefield in whatever fashion you want, and they've got 6 different kinds of weapons you can use to blow up the enemy however you like.

Now, a lot of people would probably say that the developers have been steadily ruining the game, but as someone who played this game shortly after it started up, I'd have to say otherwise. Sure, they transitions they've done have been sub-par, but the 'tier' setup the game started with didn't really do a good job keeping people evenly matched, and as nice as it was to have a tech web you could prioritize things with, I often would find myself having not enough tech points to get what I want. Now, it's a lot simpler; you build a big bot, it's going to take more damage. You want to unlock a part, you just get to a certain level. The grinding aspect people keep talking about plays more on the fact that you need to play games to actually get high end guns and electroplates; it really doesn't take long to level up, and you don't have to play and win extra games so you can unlock something 'in your tier'.

Most of all, there's the removal of the pilot seat. Now, don't get me wrong, it did play a good part in making it so you actually had a part of your bot you wanted to keep protected, but... it stifled creativity. You always had to have this big, chunky cockpit block on your robot, and the moment it got hit you were just out. It wasn't very fun to get knocked out of a game 10 seconds in because someone gets a single lucky shot. Loading up the game after a long break from it and seeing no pilot seat? I was immediately happy; I could focus on building bots that actually fit my style, without having to be limited because I had to fit that dang chair in there somewhere, especially when it messed up some of the symmetry I liked or made it super easy to blow up the bot I put so much effort in; I was a little nit-picky about that.

If you really want to complain about the details of a 'free-to-play', much less a 'free-to-win' game like this one, then fine, but you're not the one in charge of how the game is made. Go play something else, and the rest of us who like the game will keep on enjoying it, because in reality, it's just a really friggen fun game to play sometimes.
