This game's great. It also costs twice the amount of the previous game and sells you back a ton of cosmetics and features just available by default there. I don't mind the limited roster, but the monetization REALLY sucks. I bought a bunch of premium skins in Rivals 1 because the game felt so fair and gave you so much with the purchase, but opening up this game feels like ♥♥♥♥. It's about as hopeless as being a F2P OW2 player. I don't understand how that game is mostly negative on steam and this one is very positive, despite having the same monetization scheme and costing $30 more.

Early Access Review
Hey this game is pretty sick. I'm mostly reviewing it for the summer sale, but it's legitimately amazing.

Mothlight is a terribly designed videogame. The only time you are in any danger at all whatsoever is right at the beginning of the game, and as soon as you beat the first boss, you will be able to curbstomp anything else. The game tries to have puzzles at points, but those ultimately boil down to just pushing a button or two; no thought required. On top of all of this, the final boss is incredibly boring, ultimately boiling down to spamming attack and occasionally healing. Periodically, you will encounter what I can only assume to be inside jokes, which will instantly take you out of the game.

Now, despite all of that, I still very much enjoyed this game. The fact that its other elements can outshine the awful mechanics should show just how good they are. The games story, despite sometimes falling into typical tropes and getting a bit too edgy, is really quite good. For a ~3 hour game, it didn't feel rushed, nor did it outstay its welcome. The backstory of the game takes some pretty heavy inspiration from Junji Ito's Uzumaki, which I have a pretty big soft spot for, and you should totally check out if you enjoy this sort of game.

It's also worth mentioning that it gets pretty NSFW at times. I feel like that wasn't really conveyed very well in the screenshots and such. Don't meant to spoil anything, but make sure not to play it when your parents are in the room.
