Moo2 is one of those classical gems that stays with you throughout all of your gaming life, it is nostalgic, expansive, it feels intuitive and is all around a very well balanced game. If you take too long the 'end battle' gets harder, bu that in turn gives it an extra challenge. For me it is one of the games I tend to replay from time to time after sinking way too many hours into it when it first came out. Gee... I feel old :P

If this game was made out to be Dune 3 this game would have received epic positive reviews, but as it stands it has to live up to one of the biggest Turn Based Strategy names in the business. While some of the points that are raised about the UI and the not always logical AI and more of these little things, I do feel that despite it's flaws it is a solid stand alone game, it is not a classical Civilization like we are used to. You start off after a points based win, in a different galaxy, lord knows how many lightyears away. And you land on an alien world.

Here it takes Three distinctive paths towards one of three victories, although all victories are possible to achieve regardless of which path you choose. There are two extra victory conditions with Dominance and Contact, which are not tied to either Purity, Emancipation or Harmony. Each needing different approaches. Again it is possible to have all 5 victory conditions running alongside of eachother simultaneously, though that is only really possible on the lower settings in difficulty.

The quests add a little spice to the mix giving you options to make your expedition slightly stronger or more versatile. I do believe the upgrades that are given to all units is a great feature, though this does mean that military players will continue to overrun you even with 'old' units as they get an upgrade with the rest of em.

I see why people can be very critical about this game, I too see flaws in terms of balance and gameplay. But I must admit that it has a very high replay value and does manage to keep me quite entertained. This game just has to live up to the Civ series and does not quite manage that just yet, regardless I fully reccommend it.

This is a fun title for spending some hours on, it has a quirky way of making you relive the good old days and show you things you may have forgotten all about in the gaming history. All in all a good little game. The new updates make it more interesting to play for sure. Will likely spend a fair few hours more playing this.
