Most bloated pos i have ever seen. Tons of confusing and useless systems designed to waste your time on countless resources until you give up and pay up. Stay away.

A game and a developer setting a good example of what a live service game can be if handled properly.
From the pace of the new content and accessibility of getting it with currency available in-game to the transparency of the developers , they created a really wholesome and caring community reminiscing of DRG. This game have a bright future if things continue in the same vein.

Of course, the game launched with problems, the biggest one being the servers. Given the game still pulls 16 times more players 4 months after launch than the first game, with the launch itself doing 68 times the players, i think it's understandable to have server issues on launch; but i guess some people can't see further than "game no work day 1", so don't let the negative reviews about this issue turn you away.

The game is in a really good state right now regarding servers, with content being added on a regular basis and constant balancing patches; right now, most , if not all the items in game are usable, compared to launch day when railgun and shield backpack were the meta. Now, you can use almost everything , yes even the anti material rifle and the spear ( apparently more fixes for this on the horizon). This might not mean much, given the game is out for 4 months now, but i would say fixing the server issues and other game braking bugs takes priority to balancing the items.

Now with the SNOY fiasco behind us, and hopefully not another one on the horizon, it's the perfect time to jump in and experience everything the game, the community and game master Joel has to offer.

TLDR 7/10 after talent trees update. I don't think there is much to keep you playing after hitting max lvl with your favorite class.

Got the game at launch, or close after launch, something like that.
Didn't have any of the big issues other people had around this time ( crashes, disconnects, lag, frame drops etc. ) but that doesn't mean they weren't there. Played it for like 50 h and at this point the game was complete for me. It didn't have any crafting, no talent trees, no end game what so ever. So, of course i stop playing, like many others for the best part of the next year.
Recently came back to check the talent trees update.
Looking at the game i can say this:

Positives :
- Talent trees : the lame feats the game launched with were a laughable way of customizing your character to your play style. They looked more like something the devs would use on an internal dev build to kinda block out the identity of the classes, not something that should be in the full release of the game.
- Crafting : Finally a way to edit your weapons. I don't think this should be the final way for it though, but it's still better than nothing like it was in the beginning.
- Weapons Rebalance : Looks like most weapons are viable now

Mixed :
- Talent Trees : Even if they say they "redesigned" the classes, they gave each one 3 paths to go on. Unfortunately, 1 of the 3 is the old one they had before, so technically each class has 2 different play styles and 1 upgraded from before. On this note, I think they ran out of steam for the Veteran Tree. Is the only class that has no Keystone, and also the only one who kinda locks you on the path you chose to go. What i mean, the other classes has some way to connect the paths between them, so if you want to get some talents form the "melee" tree for example and then down the road go to "ranged" or "stealth" you can. On the Veteran, once you chose your Ability and go down the talent tree, you are mostly stuck to that path. Also, the paths don't make sense to me, at least to my vision of the Veteran. Given this the the first Fatshark game to use more Ranged Weapons, and the Veteran being the one who should be focused on using them, i think they put way to much focus on his melee attacks and "Stealth". From my point of view, he should focus more on the ranged weapons with the talent trees going something like: One to control hordes with high volume of fire, one middle ground i guess and something like a long range sniper, where you could use the already existing stealth ability. Being the veteran, you should excel in the range combat but suffer in the melee department. The way it is now, the entire Veteran Talent Tree is a dumb down version of the Zealot, even the Stealth ability is better and more fitting with the melee focus of the Zealot.
- The RNG is still present in the weapon shop and in the mission select screen.

Negatives:
These are the same from the launching of the game.
- Level Design : The art style and environments are gorgeous, the best representation of W40K in any game by far. The issue i have is that the levels all look and feel the same, some of them being the same. On one mission , you run this map from A to B. Then , on another mission , you run the same map from B to A. Sometimes not the entire map, like somewhere in the middle you go on a different corridor but it doesn't help much. I think they added 1 or 2 new maps since the launch, and they look gorgeous, they also stand out a little from the default ones.Hopefully this will get better with new maps.

-Lacking content: Given it took them 1 year to add talents to the existing 4 classes, this doesn't give me hope we will see more classes in the future if it takes so long to make the talents for them. I hope to be wrong here. Also, it would be nice to get some more weapons in the game, or maybe make the weapons stand out more from one another. Also, the game needs some more bosses. In the entire year since launch, we only have Plague Ogrin and Beast of Nurgle. The Demon Host is a completely useless NPC and at this point they should just remove it form the game, because it adds nothing. You get nothing if you kill it, it doesn't even force you into fighting it as more often than not, you can just walk past it, There is no reason for him to exist, other than to say we have copied the Left 4 Dead formula exactly and we have a Witch in the game.

In conclusion, the game improved from the last time i played, but still it feels very muddy. The maps all feel the same with more or less the same objectives, the weapons don't stand out from one another ( there are like 3 versions of braced guns, 3 versions of headhunter guns, 3 versions of autoguns etc. with only fire rate and small differences between them; they don't stand out, all versions look the same, and feel the same) ; and with the new talents, i think the Veteran at least lost his entire identity, given half of his talent tree and capability can be done way better by the Zealot. The only way to play Veteran is like the old playstyle before the rework so the rework added nothing new. I think the reworked talent tree for Veteran needs a rework.......

Given the game launched at a 4/10 , maybe a 5/10 if you were a W40K fan, these improvements bring it to like a 7/10 , again maybe a 8/10 if you like the setting and the universe. The big issue I have is the lack of content, and the lack of meaningful end game ( if you don't consider running the same 5 maps on Auric Maelstrom over and over for fun, or running lvl 3 missions for crafting resources as meaningful content )

Early Access Review
Played around 7 games as Necron. The only pack available relies on the mechanic of reviving your cards. They give you like 30 cards with revive status but only 2 cards that can actually do the revive. The entire purpose of this deck is to revive the cards but they give you nothing to do it with. Trying to craft your own cards will take forever by the looks of it. And even from lvl 1 in the campaign when you get your first reward, you get bombarded with "get premium to get "x" reward".

Maybe the Necrons drew the shorter stick or they put more time in developing the other races, because even looking through the not owned cards, i didn't find many cards to sustain a revive deck, so i don't even know why they wasted time with this mechanic when it's not even playable. The money shop works of course. They push you there every time they can.
Other way to get cards uses these crystals you get, but don't think you can get what you want with them. Oh no, they are used to get a selection of 8 RNG cards, not even locked to your own race, that refreshes on a daily basis i guess. So, if you play necrons you are out of luck if there are only ork cards available,

All in all, not even a half baked game, where it's own mechanics and intended way of playing doesn't work, with endless grind for cards, of course if you don't want to use the Astronomicon in this see of grind, the cash shop. Just another cash grab milking the W40K name.

Embarrassing releasing a card game with this awful grind and push for cash shop like it's 2016 and following Hearthstone hype, especially 3 years after Legends of Runterra released.

In an era where RPG means a 4 choice dialog wheel with 2 words sentences, some random skill points and item levels just to fill up the play hours with grind, no meaningful quests or interesting characters, it's very refreshing to see a game that remembers what the Role Play in Role Playing Game stands for.
It's 2023 and still the big publishers try to sell us the idea that a game like Baldur's Gate 3 it's almost impossible to make,it's way to big, it's way to complex while selling us 2010 RPGs with skins for 10$.
