I played the game when it was popular and I'm happy to be playing it now. It's a game worth coming back to after ten years. I'm happy to report that the bots in this game are competently designed and will provide endless hours of entertainment, no matter how forgotten this game becomes.

Words cannot describe the joy I felt when I was told this game released on Steam. Battlefront was the first console game of my childhood to have me clock well over a thousand hours. I played it religiously until the sequel came out. I'm so happy it's here. Absolutely pick this one up if you don't have it. It's just a lovable as the second one. Such a nostalgia trip to be back playing it once more.

This is one of the best Battletech games to come out since Mech Commander in the late 90s.

TL;DR: This is one of the best RPG experiences I've ever had in a game and I see myself replaying this game many times over in the near future.

I've just finished the game for the very first time and there's so much I want to say. First of all, this game reignited my love for reading, I hadn't finished a book for fun in over a decade. Geralt the Witcher is so interesting as a character I just had to go to the original material and I'm going through the books like a tall cold glass of water! Now... onto the game itself.

[Story/Dialogue]: Geralt and his companions are very dynamic and all have very sharp and differentiating personalities. The dialogue envokes humor to anger, easily. The quests are really well written, it might be the classic "pick up ___ of this" but the way of this character makes a living fits perfectly with pick up quests and monster slaying. That's what this franchise is all about. The voice acting can be hit or miss sometimes, but the more central the character, the better they sound (which is perfect). The story is one of corruption, mystery, redemption, forgiveness, choice, and there's some very clear themes and messages, just like in a book. You grow to love characters like Dandelion and Triss, and of course, Geralt himself.

[Content]: The amount of content in this game is absurd, especially for the low low regular price of the game. (If you're reading this during a sale, chances are this game is a couple dollars and its one of the best values on Steam). I very much intend to play this game for second time around when I'm done reading the series as well as playing the game series.

[Graphics]: If you've read this far into my review, you should probably know that I did mod the heck out of the game, graphically included. I'll leave a guide for my mods at the bottom of this review. At no point in my playthrough did I think "Wow, this looks old". Watching a lot of youtube playthrough footage, the base game itself is gorgeous enough. Lots of foliage, lots of warm colours in the inns, lots of cold colours in the graveyards and caves. I love how much this game has invested in the day/night and weather system, it invokes many different moods and is very immersive. These systems show the many beautiful layers there is to the environments portrayed in this game. Vizima is gorgeous in the daytime, with wind blowing through the grass, but at night, that seem scene is definitely creepy.

[Audio]: The audio does have a few bugs here and there. Voices are sometimes cut out, sometimes there's no footsteps in a cutscene when there should be, things of that nature. With the complaints out of the way, I'd say the soundtrack is one of the biggest mood creators in this game. There's a mix of theatrical classical, African-based battle music, and very peaceful or creepy ambient music, each is woven in perfectly. Whenever Dandelion plays, you can distinctly hear the picking and licks of his lute strings. Caves sound like caves, taverns sound like taverns. The sound department, in conclusion, did a great job. Especially for the budget of this game.

[Gameplay]: This was another part of the game I modded, with dramatic results. The vanilla Witcher gameplay is very lackluster, if not frustrating. In a way, it's turnbased, but you can easily miss the rhythem of combat and lose an opportunity to strike. I also found that no matter what difficulty I set the game at, I struggled. Some monsters were underwhelming and others were completely overwhelming (looking at you Hellhound, you b@stard!). The combat mod that I installed removed the turnbased combat, revamped health bars, and damage. This mod probably saved me from shelving this game. And I did shelve it once because of the combat. DO NOT PLAY THIS WITHOUT THE COMBAT MOD. Besides, the other ones aren't turn-based at all. I should also note that the combat animations are insanely bad@ss, the best I've ever seen in a game. The way that Geralt can swing a sword around him is incredible. You'll want to fight everything if you've got that combat mod installed. Drinking potions can be somewhat annoying, because it leaves you vulnerable to attacks, so make sure you distance yourself from any enemies you fight before you take a swig. The signs are a feature I'd say are sort of implemented well and sort of not. To me, the only really useful sign I found was the Aard sign, which is basically a force push. You'll find yourself relying more on potions than your magic abilities, I can confidently say. All in all, the modded combat is fantastic. Again, I'll drop a mod guide at the bottom of this review. The alchemy/crafting system is perfect in this game. This is the game I wish all craft based games could take a note from. Stock up on ingredients just as you go about your business, drop some of what you don't need, and never worry about not having enough. This game encourages hoarding and I'm totally okay with that.

I would recommend this game to any rpg lover, any at all. For the few dollars that it is, I find myself beaming with pride at the story that I was sucked into.

There's nothing wrong with my copy of the game, it runs brilliantly! I'm shocked by all the hate this is getting. It runs at a crisp 1920x1080 and the graphics are sharper and more colorful than I remember them ever being. The interface has been revamped and I can play back any dialogue I miss in the game. On top of it all, this was free! I'm absolutely not going to be ungrateful for that. I hope to see a better score for this soon, because this is really undeserved.

Don't be fooled. I have almost 60 hours on this game, just not on Kingmaker edition. I'm disgusted by what this game has been turned into. This was one of the pride and joys of my gaming experience 3 or 4 years ago. It was very unique, it took elements from Mount and Blade and really made them it's own. It was a gorgeous game with a lot of good history and accuracy, made by a very caring developer. Now it's absolute garbage. It's entirely dead, they've screwed up the combat system in place. The community is crap. Lierally, the team mates kill each and don't bother helping you up. Basically, this is the left overs of the game that haven't moved on, plus trolls. This game is dead, development is dead, it feels buggier than it did on day 1 and there's hardly anyone on anymore. I'm very sad to see this day. I was once able to recommend it, but I can't do that in good conscience anymore. Stay clear of this landmine.

So far it's really incredible. Extremely atmospheric. The graphics are just gorgeous for an isometric game. The combat is really fun and intuitive. The music is space techno sounding and just fits right in. There's so much to this game that's really promising to me and I'm going to cram more hours in and I'll give a far more detailed review than this one here. What I can say though is that it's a great game for a great price and if you love top down shooters, this is a game that won't disappoint. Support these guys!

This game is one of the greatest I've ever played. That's not an easy thing for me to say. Everything about this game is unique. It gets a perfect score in my book. Also, it has the all time greatest boss fight at the end of the game, hands down. I love this game to death.

The gameplay is the best part of this game, the game can twist and turn any which way when your progress is lead by pure luck. The way the card system works is very simple and easy to wrap your mind around. The combat is excellent and fluid, it's awesome to watch. The combat isn't just hacking and slashing, it's about timing blocks and dodging opponents you can't fight all at once. The combat is reminscent to the first Fable, in fact, much of this game really is a Fable game without the brand name, but the combat is so much more interesting here than in any Fable.

The graphics are lush and colourful. It has that wonderful atmospheric fantasy mood that Fable set so perfectly.

The sound quality is top notch for the most part. There is a few times when the sound does cut out but a simple restart fixes that immediately. The soundtrack is awesome and really has an epic vibe to it. I was even thinking of buying it if it's sold on Steam. It's one of those soundtracks that'll take me back years from now. I love the clanging of the swords and the thumping of swords against shields. The voice actor behind the Dealer is on the same level of deep and mesmerizing as Morgan Freeman. He's like an English Morgan Freeman, I can't stress enough how good of a voice actor he is.

The story line is interesting, it's not a normal storyline. You enter at the end of the adventurer's story. This is a retelling of all his adventures. So it's a game about retrospective and reflection. The Dealer makes very interesting remarks and ponderings that make me think on a philosophical level. What kind of game does that?

I love a game that I can put hundreds and hundreds of hours into. A game that has endless replayability and isn't limited by just having a storyline. This is one of those games. It doesn't ever have to end. There's an endless mode. There's also 200+ cards to collect. Each card is an encounter. Every game randomizes these encounters and even throws in some that benefit you and some that debilitate you to a certain extent. This game definitely earns its pay and has lot of bang for very little buck.

If you're on the fence about getting it, don't be. This game isn't hard to fall in love with. I'd recommend this game to absolutely anyone.

It's a very atmospheric and intense shooter. It has the same kind of feel as Killing Floor does to me. I love to space out with music and this game. That aside, though.

The sound effects are good, but nothing to boast about.

Gameplay is incredibly fun, different rooms offer different challenges or benefits, you never know what you're going to get until you enter a room. It can be an extremely challenging game that demands all your focus or you'll be slaughtered.

The content for this game is infinite. No dungeon playthrough is the same, so stakes are very much raised, however, after a number of playthroughs you'll have seen all the enemies and the kinds of rooms, things are just scrambled up every time. That doesn't take away any kind of fun though, just because you may have seen every enemy doesn't mean they can't still wipe the floor with you if you aren't paying attention.

The music is crisp, atmosperic, and mood setting. It fits in perfectly with the game and immerses you into your role.

The graphics are beautiful and mood inspiring. The kinds of colors the game uses are very saturated, which works well for this game. This game makes me feel happy to have a high end graphics card. Keep in mind that it is an indie game, so graphics were at the very bottom of my expectations list. This company went above and beyond and it clearly shows.

I'd recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a style of game like Killing Floor, for them it's right up their alley. I also recommend it to any other fps fans. It's a very well done, no brainer, stress relieving game.

9/10
