I've never really been into the shooter genre, but Helldivers takes everything I liked about past games and cranks it to 11. The game is very welcome to new players and easy to understand, but complex enough where the tacticians in our gaming group can still work their magic and have a good time. The gameplay loop is extremely addictive without needing pay to win or micro transactions, can you spend money to get better gear faster? yes. Can you also just play the normal game and still get those upgrades? also yes. The devs truly care about the player and this is the first game where that has been extremely evident. As a game dev this makes me hopeful for the future of gaming.

If you're looking for a short comforting game where you can just turn off your brain and hone in -- this is exactly it. Did I enjoy the game? Yes, very much so. Do I remember playing it? No, not even a little bit, it says 4 hrs played but in reality I just have the vague memories of not knowing where the pig stuffy goes and flushing toilets. 10/10 game

Honestly did not think I would like the game as much as I do. I naturally like to be a completionist but needed a break from RDR2 and wanted to try something new. I always knew this game's art direction was fantastic, no question about it, but I had only seen it from a surface level; the characters are so lovingly crafted that no two characters feel the same (even the three furies all have drastically different appearances and personalities). The combat is fun, and I cannot stop smiling every time I get to engulf an enemy in dash-strikes. It took me a little bit of time to adjust to losing all of your boons at the end of a run. However, maybe that's because I usually play games in the easiest difficulty to avoid those scenarios—anyway, it's fun as hell.

This game should be one of the industry standards for the sandbox genre. Technical-wise, you can do whatever you can imagine. Although there is some room to grow in terms of 'themed' items (since much of the game is divided into these themes and otherwise can be largely improved) what you can do with them is limitless. I wont lie and say there isn't some bugs, there are, some are harmless and some hurt the game. However from the updates the staff are very keen on taking all of the feedback in and improving the game to the best of their abilities.
