The good: It looks good, ships feel different, the game changes a lot from early game to late game, with a fair bit of different playstyles you can do. The flying feels nice, controls are solid, music is comfy, and the different quest lines are quite enjoyable. Also the economy system is extremely solid.

The bad: Late game becomes a huge slog, especially due to the AI being extremely poor, and fleet management just not being good enough. There's mods that help (Functional autonomous patrols), but you find yourself needing to fight with massive blobs, just to get around the sub-par AI, and at that point fights become extremely anti-climatic. Snowballing is also WAY too easy.

Positive review, because the early/mid game experience is really quite good, but once you get to later game it gets boring, and constantly restarting is hardly interesting either.

This game is excellent. Like the ability to play in two different ways: One is more realtime, the other is trying to making a perfect plan in one go. Also cool to have mod support for custom scenarios.

abandonware within about a month. Door Kickers 2 was always far superior.

Edit: This update is after 50+ hours. Most of the review still stands. This game reminds me heavily of SD44, where you could technically argue it's balanced, but its balanced purely for "Competitive play" which the devs confim. This means it's a ton of cheese (rushing forward with maxom mounts, absurd arty and infantry basically being useless). Do you want to counter arty? Just spend all match microing scouts, which in theory makes it balanced, but it's also not remotely fun. At my original review I thought the game had potential because it seemed like some easy fixes to do, but it seems the devs really want this to be the thing for "competitive" and that's what gets the most focus. The result is that Classic is dead, and classic is just an inferior version of what we alreayd had in AS2. All in all there is no point in playing this.

As of writing it's not very good. Balance is all over the place. In particular artillery destroys half the mechanics they added in this game. Accuracy / damage curves of weapons are all over the place as well (50cal not doing anything over range, but a 7.62 will kill entire squads in 1 second if you get closer). On longer ranges no one will ever kill anything, come a bit closer and it's instadeath for just about anything. Building fortifications, AT guns, watchtowers, sandbags? They all get nuked by arty. The heaviest tanks? Those get nuked too. Even when playing skirmish with AI you'll notice that quite often even the AI even runs out of stuff because everything dies so fast. In general the mix between realism and arcadey is very weird. Things move and rotate extremely quickly (An AT gun will literally 180 before your grenade that you sneakily threw at them explodes.....), some things die extremely fast, some things die extremely slowly. Some accuracy is insane, some is dreadful. Command point cost of units doesn't make sense.

UI is bad, but it was never great in MoW. Typical UX inconsistencies are worse, probably caused because different people implemented different controls without ever talking to eachother. Half the stuff you do with RMB, half the stuff with LMB. Wanna have a tank point a certain direction? You use RMB drag. You want to place trenches? LMB drag. Want to place a watchtower? Use mouse wheel to rotate it and then click with LMB. Why not all of these use the same RMB drag is beyond me.

I'd still say it has potential, but seeing not much has improved by the betas I'm not holding up my hopes. Just slow rotation down a bit, reduce artillery accuracy and reconsider weapon curves.

Bretty gud :DD
Plenty of nice additions over wargame red dragon. Does need a better variety of maps though (Especially for 4v4)

Peak coop RPG.

Great combat all around (even better with some of the class mods), fun quests, nice design and a pretty long story line.
Some downsides are lack of real crafting (Use crafting mod), the general source point system (fixable again with a mod) plus somewhat low replayability, due to fairly strict order of needing to do quests, plus enemy levels. Some of the UI design isn't the best (non-existent inventory management, auto sorting bag mod helps, but not perfect). The game isn't 100% perfect, but it's all a bit of nitpicking because playing the game is overall a great experience.

Changes in 4th act with the definitive edition were also very nice.
