The Fertile Crescent is a fresh take on the RTS genre with some interesting mechanics.

There is a fair amount of different technologies and playstyles. The game is new, so the meta is quite fresh.

The units ands buildings look lovely. The UI is functional, altough it could be made easier to read, especially the resources tab.

The tech tree is just gorgeously represented as an ancient bass relief.

Food comes from bushes, neutral animals and farming. Food can only be found in greener areas of the map.
Wood comes from trees, which are also found on fertile soil.
Clay comes from clay pits that you must build, and can only be gathered from the most fertile soil, thus competing with efficient farming, somewhat.
Finally, metal comes from mines, which can mostly be found on the more desertic areas of the map.

There are various technologies that you can buy with knowledge points, which are researched by having a food surplus.

A food surplus is also important to quickly grow your population. Farms are good for this, but the best soil to build farms on is also the one you'll need to produce bricks to build houses, barracks and other important structures.

When it comes to warfare, TFC boasts a variety of infantry and ranged units that combine upgradeable furnace technologies and unit upgrades that provide special abilities and enables unit types to better fulfill their roles.

All in all, TFC is a great game if you're into RTS and maybe you're looking for something that's refreshing or not as frantic as other titles of the genre. It can run on a potato and has dedicated servers all around the world.

Review Score: 4/5

There is space for improvement, the units could use more animations, especially for combat. Some of the internal logic of the game could be reworked and there's a lot of space to add more content. But all in all, it's a great game for an early access launch.

My girlfriend has a 10 year old HP notebook with hard drive issues and a faulty integrated graphics card.

She can play this game at 40fps after tweaking some config options. We're LDR since I moved and it's been tough to find a game that we both like and she can run.

On top of that, it's somewhat controller compatible, which we both love, it's not that hard to grasp, characters are quirky and fun and the world looks like it was spawned in Burton's brain.

It even allow modding and supports steam workshop.

5/5

Great little game. Some variation on the character's faces wouldn't hurt, though. And the high picthed voices get old quickly.

My suggestions to highly improve the game would be updating the character's uv maps and just have their voices be normal-er, or at least use pitch variation!

The replay functionality is a nice to have, could use some streamlining and some things replay out of order or feel wonky. Replay should have an option not to display the effects of moves like block on activation.

The game feels excellent and I can't wait to play more of it on release!

Game is great. Community is a cesspool of radioactive piss.

The game is great! But it will probably ruin your life.

If you're a dota 2 player and you read this, reconsider your life choices.
