After so many years, I still think of Emi's story all the time. It is incredible what beauty came from a forum.

Wonderful atmosphere and OST. Quite addicting gameplay loop too but I wish there was more a narrative strain between storm loops and a kind of "end" to work towards.

I really loved this game when it came out. I was excited to play it again but was shocked to see a price tag. Additionally all the characters are NOT unlocked at the start. The debug console is in the game still which does nothing and there is a permanent debug notification in the top left that they just didn't bother to fix.
It's as if they didn't make any changes to the game before just releasing it to get some nice cash. We have had little communication on their intentions and tons of people in the community are living off of copium that they will do stuff IF people buy the game. That's not how studios work. Even if they pivoted right now because of the 50,000 copies they sold. It will be months before we get any actual content and by then the game is dead, so there's no reason.

Launch is an incredibly important time for a multiplayer game. It takes a lot to convince your friends to pay $20 to try out a multiplayer game and if half your time your crashing or getting soft-locked in lobbies then those friends are going to refund and never come back. Even if the game gets better.

I wanted this game to succeed. I would have been happy paying if it was a solid launch, all characters unlocked with a pleasant intro user experience. But you can't even play the game half the time, the tutorials are horrible and there's tons of various misc bugs.

It's just a living corpse, go back to diving patriots.

There is something so enthralling in these games. I first played traditional roguelikes at the start of 2023 and fell in love with their aesthetic and how it allows such incredible depth to their mechanics and worlds. This game is no different, each secret I uncover pulls me deeper into the world and the crispness of modern smoothness tingles all those neurons in my brain. The transition between overworld and world is so satisfying.

There are some downsides but it may just be how I consume games. I found that playing for long stretches over multiple days burned me out. The play-time to secret discovery started to get longer and longer until doing the dungeons had me on auto-pilot mode. But once you manage to shake yourself out of that and ask a single question like what is behind all these locked doors in this town, you'll be pulled right back in.
