Early Access Review
This is one of those games while yes, it's advertised as a MOBA. I played a few hours of it and wow, I'm hooked. It is really one of those games you need to try out. Because just watching the gameplay by itself doesn't do it justice.

It all began honestly when I played my first few matches and I went, "Huh, this really has a Smash Bros. kind of vibe to it" but with some cooldowns. So there are fighting mechanics to uphold like zoning and hit boxes. However, what makes this game a lot faster paced while keeping it fun are: item building can be done at any time, and auto attacking gains you mana. Maps are simple and a bit on the short side.

It definitely trumps Brawlhalla and Awesomenauts, and the microtransactions in this game is really just "Hey if you want to collect cosmetics here you go." For the game's current state of 24 playable characters, it seems balanced for the most part.

With that in mind, there are caveats for the cynically insane people. For example, the publisher is Nexon USA. While they have made improvements as a company in terms of keeping things micro-transaction friendly (by a few margins), I have to disclaim that fact before purchasing in.

Outside of that, however. It's a solid Early Access Game and when it goes live or if the game changes drastically that warrants a de-recommendation, I will change this review.

Recommend to: MOBA/Side-Scrolling PvP Players, people who want a side game to play that they can relax to and PvP with at the same time.
Do Not Recommend to: People who are on the fence with Nexon

If you're picking this up as a new player, you want to create your Team Name and log into a character first before successfully picking this up. Otherwise you'll crash.

Male Shaming Simulator; With a side order of romance and drama

Considering you got 26 Chapters, full Japanese Voice acting with a believable, yet emotional story. If you sit there and listen to it all, it'll easily last you for 40+ hours and you know what? This game's worth the price (to get the Adult Version, get it from MangaGamer as these files are encrypted).

While I can't help that the main and minor female characters you interact with all fall into a hard stereotype blended into their personalities, it's at least done with style. While the school life adventure has been done numerous amounts of time, this one shows promise and delivers. It balances some romance, humor, drama, and the in-betweens of an adolescene well, and it executes those themes brillantly. This particular visual novel also left me with a color pallete of many emotions. At the same time, because of its drawn out length, this visual novel will have some holes that I will critique it for. There's also the 'version' debuncle that I want to cover as well.

Characters

For those that are curious about the character 'archetypes', it goes something like this:

You see, you got Miss "Rise"-and-Shine, Tsundere "Chiho", The Tsumugi of K-On! "Ruriko", GOTTA GET THE LATEST SCOOP "Tamie", the perky loli "Konomi", the comic relief-and-tease "Ayaka", the mature younger sister "Ritsuko", a well respected student lead "Marika" with her right hand lady "Mitsuki" who have an undying passion of righteousness.

What is the Deal with All Ages vs. Adult Only versions?

When I did some research, it seems as describing and showing 15-20 minutes of sexual content is defined as an Adult game and will not be allowed to sell according to their Steam Representative (source). The Adult Only version technically has more content than the All Ages version. Kudos to the developer for handling the PR aspects well as it was outside their control. Steam wouldn't allow the release of the Adult version nor a post-game patch (HuniePop is a grey area that was allowed a pass since the content wasn't as sexually explicit as this game is.)

However, the MangaGamer store will offer you the All Ages key if you buy the "Adult Only" version on the website. Kudos again, developer.

Criticisms

- The branching paths you can take in this game are limited to one girl at a time, and even then you can't explore some of the side characters.
- The jokes in this game are actually pretty funny only if you haven't been exposed much within the Japan culture.
- The music can get repetitive very fast, especially going over 26 chapters... Oh no...
- The 'Summer' chapters run like a typical episode in an anime/manga where it's summer break and the characters do their... Cheesy shenanigans.
+ However, the 'Main' chapters are executed well and each of the character's backstories are thorough and verbose. You are able to connect to everyone (whether you like them or hate them).
? It has a lot of male shaming in it. Whether this is your fetish, or you'll get annoyed at considering it sounds similar to an uneducated feminist rant. That's up to you for interpretation.

Final Verdict

With a legnthy game and a fair share of shortcomings, it still has some questions to answer.
Is this a fun game? Definitely.
Does this game motivate you enough to explore the other options? It sure does if those archetypes caught your eye. Otherwise it can be debateable.
Is it a masterpiece? For the school-based Visual Novel junke, it's high up there.
But the price! It's so much! I understand the complaint. You do get a lot of chapters, full voice acting, and the art's pretty nice to look at.
It's also a nice bonus that the Moonstone developers do reply.

It is safe to say it's a high recommendation from me. Now, go out there, be man shamed and enjoy the experience.

[No Spoiler Review] On the surface, it's an RPG game with puzzle elements with a pixel art style going on. But in reality, this game hits home the moment you boot up the game. It will stay that way even to the end.

If you're inspired with games where you can carve your own path and grew up with games like Mother, this is more than enough to jump into the game and enjoy it. This is one of those games where it is designed well by narrative and player interpretation. Depending on the choices you make, as a matter of fact. It can make some parts easier, and later parts harder. Vice versa.

The atmosphere and the characters in it despite the direction they took with the pixel style are all rememberable. Just about every NPC in that game will have something to say, and it does change over time. So the exploration and curiosity is always beaming at every corner. This game's quirky, will go to great lengths to make all kinds of jokes. Both literal and sometimes clever, pun-ny ones at that.

The sound track? Now that really hits home as it takes inspiration from Mother/Earthbound, and takes notes from various SNES sound tracks and making it catchy enough to hum to a few battle tunes. Pretty addicting right there.

Now, for an RPG game, I know some of you want those hours you want to sink into. But this game does not care about a long, mediocre experience. With around 12~ hours or so of the time that I spent with, that entire time was spent with quality. No filler. No additives. No preservatives.

This will be one of those games you really want to go in blind. Don't look anything up. Play the way you want and see where the game will take you. You may be surprised and end up coming back for more.

This is a movie based on three Dota 2 players who make their way to the Dota 2 Internationals for the $1 Million Prize from their humble origins to the tournament. While yes, most of you will scream at your PC and say, "Why risk your life away from gaming? Get a real job!". The point is, these three players that were documented in the film gambled their life away for video games because they geninuely want to play video games in a professional level, mind you.

This movie shows strongly how society generally scoff video games as a time waster, yet a fun medium. When society hears people who want to PLAY video games as a living and make a professional earning out of it like a sports player would, that's the kicker. The contestants' families are mostly stressed over this because it's such an unheard thing, and if you lose? You go home with little or no money.

The presentation of the movie, though, is coordinated very well. Cinematography, lighting, all the elements of a documentary video are there. It even has extras and deleted scenes bundled up as well.

My summary? Free to play, free to see the cringe and spaghetti of various familiy members and loved ones, and free to see a quality movie. Heck, you don't even need to buy it.

Even if you HATE Dota 2, it's still interesting enough to see the lives of a gamer at stake.

You rike Fire Emblem or similar games such as Ogre Tactics or Final Fantasy Tactics Advance? Go get this game, or you bring such SHAMEFUR DISPLAY to family.

DLC? Not worth it. The base is good enough as it is. The game format is in the Strategy Turn-Based Tile JRPG game. Also, the DLC may NEVER be discounted. As of this review, this thing is on a holiday sale, but NONE of the DLC is discounted, and it's really just getting more points to shave off some grinding. No biggie, please ignore.

Voice acting is alright, it won't win any oscars. But it's not downright horrible. If you're THAT interested in the voiceovers, you can buy the additional voice packs for $9.99. That's the only DLC I'd recommend. The appeal to the story is that you have multiple generations and you can date various people over time. Waifu simulator in a JRPG? Check.

Chaining character attacks, overlimits, and combos is crucial to the game's core mechanic. I only wish there would be an option to SPEED it up faster. Since this game is a port of a console, playing it with your 360 or PS3 controller works well here. Mouse and Keyboard is accessible, you can change the bindings as well, which is a positive.

How does it stand overall? It's a different take from what you'd get with a game like Disgaea. It gets a bit grindy, but it takes quite some time to get into the bulk of the game, as well as the story. Of course, there's New Game+ and all that jazz, so time is NO issue.

Glorious Nippons and JRPG Strategy Enthusiast, please check this out right away.
Anyone else? If you're comfortable staring at anime pictures as your avatars and like a different taste of a turn-based strategy game, put it on your back burner.

Otherwise? It's average at most, and it will not definitely catch people's short attention span. It's a niche for what it is. If you're more into the western market and want a thrilling experience within the same genre, go take a look at XCON: Enemy Unknown + Enemy WIthin DLC instead as that's more engaging than this game. But for the very few who want another Strategy JRPG in a buried gem, it's worth at least the 10$, or 11.99$ for a Holiday/Flash Sale.

Torchlight 2, but FREE-TO-PLAY? Please sign me up. I played this a ton back when it was in beta. It has gotten better since. Oh, and you have a huge tree to level up in. You'll be spending a good chunk of your time thinking what character you want to build. But otherwise, it's all about the action from there.

The moment I bought this, three people followed suit. Look. You like visual novels? You like being a CUTE SUGOI PRINCESS? You like staring at stat bars and watching anime all day and replaying it over and over to get different endings and unlocking different mysteries?

You like anime? This is for you.

You hate reading walls of text and want action? Oh no, I'm sorry... Not for you. Call of Duty is that way.

Get this guys: Single-player Earthbound / Mother style graphics transformed into a board game. You get to choose your events and your own spawned monsters since you take the role as a player and a GM at the same time.

The +1 expansions makes the game worth playing. But the Blacksmith is very unforgiving. 40% success rate as a base to upgrade your items. \

The control scheme makes it ideal for touch tablet/touch screen users, but if you don't mind moving your mouse around and clicking a lot. GET A BIT OF THAT OSU WORKOUT!... Then you should be fine.

I got it on a daily deal for 60% off. It's worth it big time for that.
But when it's not on sale and it's 10 dollars? 15 dollars? What... WHATTTTTTTT!?

What slightly made me frown were two things: A) Their Android/iPhone App Version costs $2.99. B) There is the option to buy more gold with Microtransactions (convenience, they say.) While the only thing you can buy is currency, it really makes most users very discouraged to buy it. But trust me, it's a lot better to play it at a normal rate. You'll grow to love your characters more.

Given that some builds are worth more than others, you'll see that all the passives are worth leveling a lot in the early levels. There are unlockable classes, and loot to gather. The start of the game gets very slow, but hey. This game's a neat RPG to burn your time. While exponentially better for touch users, it's a neat little gem to stumble upon. BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT PRESS THAT "+" SIGN ON THE TOP RIGHT CORNER.

Play the game for what it is.
