I loved the first Ghostrunner so much, fell in love with the gameplay loop instantly, and despite next to no changes to physics and movement, this game feels like such a letdown. One "issue" with the first game that is exacerbated by the second is the story. In Ghostrunner (1) The story was meh, but it never mattered because it was just background noise during the action of the game, something to fill the time between rooms. For some reason, the developers wanted to make it more of a factor in the second game, and they introduce a home base that you go back to after many of the missions and it all just seems...wrong. The plot of this game is hard to care about, and it doesn't help that it takes time away from the actual missions.

Another big misstep in my opinion is the open-world/motorbike sections. I just don't understand why they would take one of the best parts about the game, the movement, and adopt a much less interesting type of navigation. This goes hand in hand with what might be the biggest issue of the game, its transition to an open world environment. Just...why?? Navigating a barren (and I mean BARREN) desert wasteland is such a downgrade from the futuristic cyberpunk setting. There is an absurd amount of useless space that serves zero purpose. It makes it a chore to spend time navigating what feels like a texture-less environment, just to get to small sections of combat.

I'm not one to make reviews, especially negative ones, but this game was such a disappointment coming from the first that I felt it necessary in the hopes that if a third game were to come, that it would not follow in the footsteps of this one.

Fun game to play with friends, not very fleshed out as of now, but it's free and takes like 150mb so why not. +Dev is updating over time so that's cool too
