Interesting art style (comic-book driving effects & characters mixed with photo-realism) I thought I would dislike the driving effects while driving but they actually add a little fun layer of extra customisation and do not get in the way.
You can customise your characters looks including gender, clothing, facial features in both story mode and online.
Lots of cars (70+ and you can own unlimited and multiple of each, tunes for different specs etc) (kind of grindey to unlock some of them though, especially how you have to unlock them online and offline independently of each other if you're like me and like to complete single player before jumping online - however cars rewarded from certain challenges give you the car as a reward in both modes).
Lots of customisation for most cars including front & rear bumpers, side skirts, spoilers, front & rear splitters, rims, hoods, window tint, neons, exhaust sound customisation, complete body kits, ride height & fenders.
Police AI is brutal at times in lower end cars (classes B to A+) at high heat levels (4+) however in single player (and maybe online in low end cars) I would recommend using the anti-police attachments to help evade them).
Component AI I found an okay challenge and not too rubber-bandy on Normal difficulty.
There are not many race modes unfortunately (Sprint, Street race, speed race (basically a long sprint) and drift. Races are usually grouped into events which usually consist of 3 of the same type of race - sometimes for a single class of car, sometimes mixed.
Online there are "link-ups" which seem randomly triggered throughout playing free-roam (16 players on each server/session by the way) which earn you XP and cash for grouping up with other players in pre-set random locations to do sets of challenges such as drifting, stunts, etc.
Online is also cross-play with PlayStation and Xbox to help keep the player numbers up and good for those with friends on those platforms I guess.
There have been a couple issues (the most recent being the game crashing randomly for a wide amount of users which was not fixed by EA for 2 weeks! EA provided terrible support during this time and did not really treat the issue the way they should have - the game was literally unplayable for lots of players for more than 2 weeks...)
The driving physics are great for an arcade racer on a controller and take quite a bit of getting used to every time you switch car but every car feels different and can be tuned (mostly) to how you like driving (use the handling options in the perfromance/pause menu and performance parts (e.g tyres come in grip/standard/drift spec- both set individually per car which is quite nice).

In terms of optmisation; the game runs okay but could run better on my i7 6950X @4.1Ghz and 6800XT but it stays around 60FPS on medium settings at 2560x1440.
Bear in mind though at the time of writing this I'm using VFIO/UNRAID with Windows 10 as a virtual machine with 8 CPU cores and 30GB RAM so it would likely run better if I had the full CPU to use (or had more cores available to my guest OS).

Overall I think a good & fun arcade racer slightly let down by it's grindish nature to unlock cars and lack of variation in tracks and game modes. And EA, don't forget about EA.

One of the most fun games I have played in a long time.
You play as a little RC car with a rocket attached and play a game similar to football with other RC rocket cars, bouncing round the pitch and ramming into them. What more could you ask for?

Not completed the game yet and I'm not usually into this sort of game... But I've had a few experiences with the alien and I have to say, this reminds me of the original Alien games on Playstation 1, the sound, the visuals and the sheer terror and suspense you get from this game are perfect.

If you are into games where you don't want to crawl into dark corridoors, conserve your resources and take levels slowly and cautiosly, hide away from scarily smart AI and go to the toilet to **** your guts out then this game is for you.

This game could have an awesome Co-Op/PVP mode too if done correctly but I doubt that will ever happen.
Having a great time playing and uploading videos of the game to my YouTube channel so far!

Overall I'd say the game is a 9/10.

Brilliant Sequel.
I loved the first game and this just makes it a whole lot better.
You play as different characters/vault hunters this time round but you see the originals throughout the game.
Character customisation is great and the amount of weapons is mind blowing, the world is really big too!
Very well optimized and graphics are great!
Story line is fun - Multiplayer Co-Op makes it a whole lot more fun!
A big improvement over the first one (somehow!)
Even the DLC's are worth buying!

One of my favorite games/franchises!

Before I go on to writing this review I have to say I know it's an Alpha but I am also entitled to my own opinions and views.

Ok so here goes, I have played the mod for well over 50 Hours before the "Standalone" come out and really enjoyed it apart from the clunky gameplay and badly optimized engine. Which "Rocket" claimed to be better in the standalone - even in Pre-Alpha.

After playing the "Standlaone" for just over 14 hours now, I'm starting to lose my faith in Dean "Rocket" Hall.

He said that the game is better optimized than the mod and the gameplay is less clunky than before, which is a lie.
Running on an i5 2500K @ 4.6 GHz and a Radeon HD7990 @ 1.1 GHz (No SLI/Crossfire support yet/at all/ever) you'd expect this game to get at least 50FPS everywhere you go, right? Well no, you get an average of a lovely 30 FPS - no matter what graphics settings you use. Yes, there are config files you can edit and things like that (the same as the mod - makes around a 5FPS difference), but the point is - we shouldn't have to do that to get a smooth running game on a high end PC let alone the less furtunate PC gamers out there...
Even though this is in Alpha I feel like this will never change. Even the mod run badly (not as bad as this, though) so I doubt this will be any better.

The movement is quite a bit less clunky, you can now jump properly (when it wants to work), movement feels smoother, gunplay is more fluent (you can now move while shooting - what a revolution! /sarcasm), looting feels more "involved" because you actually have to look for items and most of the buildings are enterable BUT (a very big but) there's no loot to actually get from these buildings or when there is loot it's usually useless, like a rotten Kiwi (what's the point in these items apart from causing lag?)... There's only loot when the server has restarted - which is every few hours. Even then you'd be lucky to get something useful. You can get some decent loot by going up North on the map (if you can survuve that long - I'll get to that!)

Looting and sorting things is made easier by the new inventory system - which is a lot better than the Arma 2 loot system, but it's still not great.

Dropping items means they either disappear or take a minute to appear, which means you have to sit there in that one spot waiting for it to be there.
Not great if you want to share your loot with friends or other players as they can't access your inventory without hancuffing you or something similar.

The hunger and thirst and tiredness system is the worst I've ever encountered in a game.
You literally spawn hungry and thirsty having to eat/drink/rest all of the time - paired with the very stupidly designed text notifications nagging you "I'm hungry" "I'm thirsty" "I need food" "My mouth is dry" etc, etc - Icons like the mod would have been far better, the text notifications take away from the immersion and you feel like you're playing the Sims with a moany child who can't stop nagging.

It takes roughly 20/30 minutes for your hunger and thirst to go all the way down. That combined with the size of the map and low loot spawn rates is a very bad combination, you'll die because of this far too much. Plus it's really not realistic at all, who needs to eat a whole meal worth of food every 10 minutes to not pass out?

Melee combat is very bad. Inaccurate and the melee weapons take around 40 hits to even kill a zombie let alone another player trying to kill you.

Friendlyness of players is another issue. People have no reason to be friendly, once you have a gun and some clothes there's nothing else to do as you've probably already explored the map.

There's no transport apart from your own legs (why not? Cars/bikes/helicopters/planes are in the Arma 2 engine so why not this?)

There's no chopper crashes (yet/ever)

There's currently 3/4 guns in the whole game, obviously more will be added soon.

There's no way to store all your gear, so when you're dead say goodbye to hours of walking and a nagging character to have to go back and do it all again.

Crafting (if you can call it that) is mediocre at best.

When you want to meet friends it would be near enough impossible if you are new to the game, infact it's pretty much impossible anyway thanks to the hunger system, you will more than likely spawn on opposite sides of the map and have to walk to each other to either get killed by a bored player or killed by your own player being hungry and not being able to find food/drinks.

The graphics have improved slightly over the mod, the player models look better, the enviroment is great but the UI is just plain ugly.

Switching weapons/items is a pain, as you have to select them on the hot bar with the number keys on the keyboard because this game keeps the rubbish scroll menu from Arma 2.

Zombie sounds are terrible, they sound like demented horses - although their movement is no longer a super sonic speed zig zag pattern.
Enviroment sounds are good. Voice chat is good.
Side chat is removed which is a bit stupid really, they could have just removed the voice chat option from that channel.

There's only dedicated official servers at the moment with unofficial ones being supported soon (supposedly), which is fine, they are all 40ish player slots or more and located in all different regions.
Not much lag on any of them from what I can tell with 120Mb fibre broadband.
Also when you switch server you get to keep all of your current gear as it transfers over (very useful)

Loading times have vastly improved over the mod, you no longer wait 10 minutes to get into a server!

Player custimization is great, seriously the best part of the game at the moment. You really feel like the character is yours and portrays you and how you play.

That's all I have to say really about this game so here's a summary:
Badly optimized even on high end PC's
Great graphics
Clunky gameplay
Ugly UI
Mixed player base
Nothing to do after getting a weapon and clothes
Rubbish text notifications instead of icons.
Controls are awkward to start with
Zombies sounds are bad but fighting them and their movement is far better than the mod.
Gunplay is improved
Melee is horrible
No vehicles
Huge map with quite a lot of variation on it
Meeting with friends is near impossible if you don't know the map/can't find food or water/don't have VOIP software
Crafting is OK at best
Looting is improved over the mod but still not ideal
Servers have plenty of player slots
Better loading times than the mod
Gear carrying over multiple servers is great

So would I have purchased this game if I tried a demo first?
No, not at all. If anyhting you should wait to see if "Rocket" lives up to his promises and makes the game what he said it would be.
Again, I know this is an Alpha test and really do hope he and his team fix all of the annoyances and bugs in the game. But somehow, I still feel let down by what "Rocket" shown us in the video blogs and his websites.
