Am liebsten würde ich hier weder ein Gut oder Schlecht verteilen sondern eher ein Mittelmäßig. Das Spiel ist weder schlecht noch ist es gut.

Es hat eine solide Basis. Es braucht Zeit und Arbeit. Ich hoffe die Entwickler nehmen sich diese Zeit und arbeiten zusammen mit der Community an an dem Spiel. Spiele wie Terraria haben Jahre gebraucht bis diese Meisterwerke wurden. Ich glaube fest daran, dass in diesem Spiel dieses Potenzial steckt, leider wird es Stand jetzt mmn. nicht Ansatzweise ausgeschöpft.

Unfortunately, I can’t recommend Borderlands 4 in its current state.

After 4h of playtime: The game constantly crashes for me, sometimes even causing a bluescreen – and that’s on brand-new hardware (AMD 7800X3D, AMD 9070 XT, 32 GB RAM). All drivers are fully up to date, so it’s definitely not an issue on my end.

After 13h and around 3 or 4 updates: Still the same. I get a bluescreen about every 45 minutes.

In about 4h of playtime, I had only seen maybe 3 enemy types.

Update after 13h, currently in the Ripper Queen quest: So far I’ve encountered about 5–6 different Order enemies, 4–6 Ripper enemies, and 4 beast-type enemies. It really lacks diversity, maybe that improves in different areas.

As for the trademark Borderlands humor – it feels weak and uninspired this time around, at least from what little I’ve experienced. That opinion stays the same after 13h of playtime.

Overall, the game just comes across as unfinished.

After 13h: I really want to like the game. I gave it a fair chance. It’s just not doing it for me this time – the performance problems, the comments from the devs, the feeling that the game is not really finished, that it had to be rushed after the awful movie to “save” the IP. It’s really sad.

A real shame – once again, a AAA title pushed to release before it’s ready. Hopefully patches will fix things, but for now: stay away.

After 13h: Just get it on sale in a year – you’re not really missing anything.
