i think were beyond people caring about pay to win games. because this game is without a doubt pay to win. i didnt want to recommend it because of that. but here i am. outside of pay to win, the game is fantastic. you get to walk around wonderful scenic areas shooting animals as you go. pretty relaxing. even if you just want to find a nice spot to overlook a lake and enjoy the view, its awesome.

but you will not be able to enjoy much without buying DLCs. the reserves are worth it. variety of animals makes it nice. the equipment is game changing. you buy the DLC and get guns for free, you can get some free tents and blinds. if you dont buy, it will take you days if not weeks to grind the ingame currency to buy the weapons you need just to take down the animals you want. but you still wont have anywhere near enough tents to follow any online guides. im surprised EW dosnt have the option to just buy ingame cash. they would slaughter peoples wallets if they did. considering you need $512,000 in game credits just to setup a grind on one map. (16 tents and 16 blinds at 16k each)

navigation AI is horrible and they give you missions that are zero fun. go scout this port thats at the end of a river. can barely navigate. takes almost 2 hours because any time compressing moves the ship too fast and 100% causes it to crash. so slow and easy. will get it. you cant return to port during a mission even if out of fuel, ammo, or anything. could sit next to a friendly port and request supplies. denied 100% of the time. why they even have the option to request supplies. i dont know. missions overwrite current that have you travel way out of range. the whole thing is just one slap in the face after another. no online guides because nobody plays it. steam community forums are a joke.. honestly. do not bother unless you really like to suffer.

at the moment the game lacks proper functionality to be enjoyable. simple things are not even thought about. the first beyond frustrating moment was the sell recycle items. search online you will find that you compress them first. this is what will prevent you from progressing the side quest. you must sell the boxes as is one time to check off that side quest, than you can compress the rest for more profit. the next part that has me at "im done" is the planning trailer. i dont know how to get one on my property to plan my house. you get a mission during the game that has you simply go to the trailer and mixer behind the hardware store and boom, purchase. after that. i do not know. there is nothing. the guide in the game is complete garbage. so just know if you ever find yourself wanting to know how to get anything. the guide in the game will not tell you. the guide is basically filler on the tablet that only has information like "the sky is blue" and "grass is green" its all full of obvious information and zero detailed information. a good detailed example would be gas canister. instead of having it just say "it hold gas" you could put, "can be purchased at hardware stores. can hold 20 units of fuel. diesel will be green. unleaded is blue" ya know. information

the generator at the office is another terrible thing. burns diesel like it has multiple leaks. so they gave a 1k battery to go with it!! oh man, you can compress one set of boxes with that 1k power. than its charge up the generator. takes 24 jerry cans to fill. so you better upgrade your vehicle before this. i did not and i tell ya. those trips back and forth only carrying 6 cans a time. yea...... fml. not to mention you CANNOT fill cans in the bed. you have to take every single can off, put on ground, fill, than pick up and put back in the bed.

vehicles turn worse than an actual real like semi truck with attached trailer. and you do have to pitch your turns as if you have a double trailer behind you. you will constantly ramp off of curbs going into parking lots because your obviously not supposed to go into parking lots where other vehicles are present. the amount of times i got stuck/high centered on a curb with the 3 wheeler is truly amazing. at least the "im stuck" teleport function works well.

yes i think the game is worth the price. its extremely fun to play with a group of friends. starship troopers vibe is done better than anything to date.

my only gripe besides elitism. the utter lack of weaponry to deal with what you face level 4 and beyond. until you reach 20 and unlock the railgun. the greatest example is the armored charger. thing will wipe your squad or at the very least take long enough to deal with you now have 2-3 swarms ontop off you as well. and it is this way until you either grind to 20 yourself, a 20+ joins with a railgun, or you have a friend to join you. so you play level 3s just to level up and they are so mindlessly easy.

the game lacks balance.

after 40 hours and two games built to the end. it was fun, really nice change from the typical survival. the waterworld feel is fantastic. i really enjoyed exploring around the starter island. but it did kinda end there. not much under water exploration past that, some, but not as detailed. need more places like the refinery that have the office area you basically need to have at least one air tank or you will die. the gun play has some cringe worthy moments. i wouldnt even know what to call it. ballistics? consistancy is off. the balance. omg. i do not understand the +damage modifier. because basicaly it says the old bolt action and deg are the best weapons, which are also kinda the cheapest. but you come across thee shotgun or the ak and you get wrecked. you try the shotgun or the ak(or m16) and 5 shots later the dude is still looking at you. so i still am confused as to what gun does the most damage. some sort of click or animation when changing fire mode would be fantastic. the smgs were worthless to make, recoil and rate of fire. offloaded 12 shots hit 2. waste of ammo. i like the m16 single shot. but like i said, damage leaves little joy. beyond that, cant wait for the water combat, etc..

my suggestion that would bring this game next level.

think grand theft auto san andreas and the gang territory system. we already have to put flags down to build on places/islands we conquer. raids already happen at said places (granted, so far only places the player is located). why not have them fight eachother even? conquer the map? i guess mount & blade would be a good example too. each faction has a main staple that can respawn enemies maybe? or they just simply respawn in a time frame inside territory. whatever it may be. we need respawning enemies and a end goal to continue playing. at the moment your about 10-12 bases/islands from building everything. may not have all blueprint, but your basically done. max armor. best weapons. tons of ammo, health, bandages, etc..

what is there to say besides you get the game, install the game, play the game, lose your life.

very few games in my life have i picked up and played that you play and play without even noticing time spent. Valheim has satisfaction around every corner. the building system is one of the best and allows for some insane creativity. i love exploring the different builds on reddit, discord, youtube, etc.. some people have amazing imaginations.

the mod scene is pretty dang big and good from what i hear as well, i personally do not use any mods. but i have heard many good things!

its the perfect little management sim. not too detailed and not too little. great time consumer if you cant afford to be tied down for any amount of time. enough to keep you active for a long while.

my only gripe, and i would hope it gets worked out. once you get everything automated, everybody trained, frieght trucks, etc.. you dont have anything to do. like, at all. go to the park and walk around? and from what i can tell you have to actually walk. cant run or stand still. play video games and watch tv to maintain happiness. you can get a job at the super market i suppose, beats just clicking on the bed for 24 hours, eat, bed, go buy fresh food, watch tv, games, bed, eat, repeat this really really boring cycle. but, your just banking money. you get charged at 1 million, so as long as you just invest all your money to stay below 1 mill, you actually make money. but i am at the point i am doing this to save up and buy property. is this going to open up a whole new part of the game? i hope so. the amount of time, boring time. spent to get to that point, is a problem. and all i can hope for is a decent reward. but i have a feeling all its going to do is eliminate my rent fee's. maybe make some extra money on the residential and any other stuff on the property? that would be cool. or is it only one business type per spot of land?

so thats my rant on my only issue(s) with the game. which are small. it is not a game meant to be played as the main staple. its a filler game. approach as such and you will certainly enjoy it!

pro tips: never buy a warehouse with only one vehicle bay.
only buy large 8,000sq/ft offices for lawyer, web, and your HQ.
hire HR managers ASAP and get your people training. slide that bar to 100%.
pay attention to logistics, if it lists an item you dont have in the store as a delivery item, you
need to start selling that item!
the market insider is kind of a joke. just open the map and select the business' you want to start
in whatever area. start a business that does not have competition. (nearby similar stores)
i notice this has been far more profitable strategy than following what the demand says on
market insider.
never do a donut shop. the price of the food is just not high enough to cover cost of labor,
equipment, etc.. even if you raise to the highest point before pricing& drops.
last but not least. allways keep raising your prices every 3-4 days until the % drops in insight. than
lower is .2 at a time until 100% again. this is insure your getting the most money per product for
the area your shop is in.

(these tips are just my opinion of what i found works and does not in my experience. it is also written in the early access period of the game and will most likely change over time. do not expect me to ever change or update this. gl hf, pz!)

overall feels janky. i get the combat is animation oriented. but its way too slow and off half the time when you do line up a good swing. the food system seriously is infuriating to the maximum. you can hold 20 blueberries and it takes you 20 minutes to eat them because you cant eat a handful? you can only very slowly with the animation system ruling everything you do. eat one at a time. this alone is going to be the reason i wont play this game and confuses my brain as to what the hype is about. i send my deaf buddy out to farm fish because thats about the only actual useful thing he can do. my first hour i tried to send him out to get logs for a shelter. bad idea. im sure theres better ways to play this game and i probably just dont know what im doing. but, 45 minutes of farming trees with me AND dingus i got maybe 80% done witht he log shelter. 79 logs required. 45 minutes and you cant make it. what a freaking joke. there is NOTHING fun about that. i dont mind choppin down some trees. thats cool. i got thousands of hours in valheim and icarus. i chop trees just fine. but i get results in those games in 45 minutes. not here. not this.

but hey. the zombie scares where fun and cool. surprise attacks from tree climbers and the amount of damage they do. very cool. very fun. i enjoyed that whole aspect. the tribal enemies too. all of that great job. but the actual gameplay as far as survival goes. this game is pure crap
