I cannot currently recommend this in good conscience due to the copious amount of ways to spend real money in-game, despite it already having a base cost of 14 dollars.

Also, playing Co-op yields basically no rewards. This is unfortunate for progression as I almost exclusively play with friends.

Despite that, it is a fun and well made TD. I hope that these practices may be reduced, though am doubtful it will happen.

As someone who has played over the years, this is The perfect casual TD. Pure nostalgia.


There are a few things I feel are missing, such as:

Auto-start in CO-OP (or just more CO-OP features in general)
BTD5 Deluxe Content
An option to use the flash artstyle


But I'm not counting on anything being added besides the occasional new map every few months.

Also, don't buy the console version. It's basically abandonware and is quite outdated. (The only advantages are Couch CO-OP and a nice interface)

my computer isnt strong enough to run this game anymore but for what little time i played it at half resolution, it was fun

All-time favorite. Never have I done so many cool things in a video game before.

I want to like this game, I really do.

I just can't get behind the weird design choices of this game. There are just so many issues and missing features. I'll go over a couple that really bothered me:

1. The controls are very clunky (especially in stealth) and it is very hard to select a specific action on the fly.
2. The doors are so annoying to use, you have to line yourself up nearly perfectly. Also, enemies seem to take priority if they are trying to kick the door down as well.
3. As far as I know, you cannot dump bodies in water despite some thugs LITERALLY talking about it on the docks. Would of been a cool way to introduce such a feature.
4. Random spread in a stealth game. Why can't stealth weapons have perfect accuracy while not in combat?
5. Enemies being able to notice and shoot you off-screen is completely unfair. Enemies are also hard to spot in the dark sometimes.


I've played similar games such as Space Marshals and Heat Signature, and I immediately want to go back after playing this.

One of the most interesting and unique rogue-likes I've ever played. You can find a way out of (almost) any situation, as long as you are creative enough. Highly recommended to bring a few friends for this, though playing alone is perfectly fine (and probably the more balanced way to play)

Genuinely the most stressed I've ever been playing a video game.

Originally, I didn't care much for Beat 'em ups. After the first 1-2 hours of gameplay, this game has won me over.

This game is some of the most fun I've had in co-op multiplayer, it's challenging, fun and the difficulty is relatively well-balanced. For the price, I definitely say it's worth it. Though, if you decide to get this game, keep in mind it is no longer receiving updates.


Anyways, my thoughts on the combat, probably the most important part of this game:

It's satisfying. Attacks have weight to them and being able to throw things will never not be entertaining. However, enemies become complete meat-shields on later difficulties, meaning some fights may drag on a little bit. Though, this isn't much of a concern if you are able to endure such battles. My biggest issue is that some of the enemies attacks require ultra instinct reaction times to dodge, and some enemies don't even telegraph attacks at all! (enemies that shield dash)

Due to the nature of how quick and often enemies attack in this game, completing a no-hit run is nigh impossible. The dodge-roll is mandatory to avoid taking too much damage. Unfortunately, the most unique class in the game (Battlemage) lacks this ability in favor of magic spells. The magic spells are far too weak to make up for the loss of the best ability in the entire game.


On another note, Endless mode is a complete nightmare. This is more-so for completionists. If you ever wanted Insane+, play Endless mode! When I went in, I was expecting a more relaxed experience where I play through the entire game several times in one run, and grind up my build to become extremely powerful. That couldn't be further from the truth. I don't know HOW people get as far as they did, but I applaud them for being able to endure literally the hardest mode in the entire game.


If you have someone to play this with, definitely worth getting. It is also perfectly fine to play solo as well, as this way, you avoid trolling/getting trolled by your teammate. If your a completionist, expect a real challenge. It's possible for sure, but I wish you the best of luck.
