I cannot recommend this remaster because it's really only a product for an extremely narrow band of people that have positive nostalgia for it. This release is also plagued by numerous performance issues that have not altogether ruined my experience but should give people pause when purchasing it. Even originally this game suffered from some unfinished concepts and repetitive gameplay that grows tiring to even the biggest fan of JRPGs.

You can be Senor HIlter and abscond to Argentina only to cast away your disguise and become Fuher of South America.

Day 67: The Earth, having had its resources depleted by overharvesting of lemons and oil has become a desolate wasteland of derelict movie studios and pizzerias. The oceans are clogged with abandoned shirmping vessels. The last of the population hides amongst the ruins of hockey stadiums and car washes. We have made preparations for the moon, and beyond. Our only hope now is to bankrupt an alien civilization. On retrospect, maybe making a googolplex of dollars was not entirely worth it.

Even though I've not played these games for long so far, I can tell this is exactly what I wanted and was buying. Gearbox didn't dissapoint this time with this flawless remastering of a classic. These game's mechanics still hold up to this day and with updated graphics it leaves all other current RTS of this kind. It's very hard to describe the feeling you get when you combine nostalgia with a great game and then polish it to this level of sheen. This should be an instant purchase for past lovers of these games. Newcomers should also try these if they are fans of RTS games. The controls are smooth and intuitive. They work well for 3d navigation in 3d space. The HUD is relatively easy to navigate as well. My only complaint about the HUD is the upgrading and building menus. Those I have always considered somewhat clunky. Large scale space combat in these games is fun and cinematic. These games also feature a great soundtrack fit for space exploration. The added workshop compatibility for mods just makes this package too sweet to ignore. Can't wait for someone to redo Cataclysm and put it on there. All in all, a solid buy even at full price. It should be noted that I even dislike RTS games for the better part, but would place this game solidly on a top 10 games of all time list.

Banished is a city building experience I have never had before. It also provides an experience that I have rarely felt in video games before. The experience I'm referring to is actual consequences to what you do in the game world. One misstep in Banished can lead to all your citizens dying one by one with wonderous rapidity. Many other people who have reviewed this game have described this as an undesirable trait of the game. However, like Dark Souls this game's cliff of difficulty provides a worthy challenge. I really enjoyed this game, but it left me wanting more. That is the only critical opinion I have about this game. I believe most players would probably experience most of this game in about 45 minutes to an hour or so. I hope the developer is hard at work on additional content for this game, as it still has a lot of promise.
