Game's nice! Great story, good graphics and a lot of puns and fun dialog.
I had some game crashes and frozen loading screens. A bit frustrating but I've managed to finish it. Maybe a VR mode could be nice tho.

Gave it a run for 100 Hours to see more than just the story

What I like:
Story
Native Lord of the Rings! Great work!
Combat & Skills
Really enjoying the way you create and manage the skill rotations with the complexity of the traits, stats, virtues etc. Its target based but still consistent in group fights. There is no PVP or PK without the consent of the other player (You can only spar with them). So with that, PvE all the way with no stress of getting killed by others.
Character & Style
Yes, you have vanity items.. character creation is complex too. You have a lot of pets and mounts in the store, not sure if also in game. I managed to have 3 horses just to match my outfitting.
Gameplay & Quests
Multiple choices, starting points and races. You get a lot of quests while exploring the lands. Areas are filled with creatures and stuff to gather for your profession. You have micro dungeons with somewhat challenging creatures. The best thing about this game is that it allows you to have a specific Landscape Difficulty in the starting area. I went for Daring which gives you a more challenging approach from the creatures but also 15% more EXP and 3% Virtue EXP. above this difficulty, the creatures will have a enraged effect and I think this could give you a bigger hard time with Elites in the future. Gold earning is not that hard if you get a hobbies and crafting or just collect trophies and sell them at the vendor.
Crafting
There's nothing much to say about it, it's very straight forward, easy to understand, very rewarding if you want the best items. Experience may differ from a job to another.

What to take in consideration before starting playing:
  • Long distance fast travel costs tokens that are purchased with premium currency.
  • Character expansions (inventory/ vault/ stats) costs premium currency.
  • Limitations under a Subscription Membership (Quests, Features, Action House).
  • Some quests require premium currency.
  • Game response is slow (Item looting, item deposit, trades etc.)
  • Some classes are purchased with premium currency.

What must be reworked by devs:
  • Server lag (120ms+ constant) but it feels like a group lag not a full server lag. (Critical Issue)
  • Reduce the invisible walls to create more freedom. (Critical Issue)
  • Radar is very limited in what you can filter or see. (Critical Issue)
  • Hovering on quests directly on map don't target the quest or show tooltips. (Critical Issue)
  • Zoom in Map/Minimap doesn't work, It's hard to see locations in 1440p+ Resolutions. (Critical Issue)
  • Pin on Map / Trace roads could help travelers to find the perfect way to the destination. (Critical Issue)
  • NPC's in towns that talk about the type of materials you can find in the area
  • Vaults in every medium/big town (not camps necessary)
  • Travelling merchants could come in handy (Could improve the immersive experience)
  • Crafting layout could be improved.
  • Overall UI could get a responsive design.

I understand that it's 2000 game and it has an old engine, old approach.. I'm not a LOTR fan but I enjoyed the story and the creativity behind. I'm asking for a remake or improvements over the issues that persists in this great MMO. This is just how much I've encountered so far by the time I wrote the review. Hope this will help mark some of the things on the whiteboard to get done in the future.

p.s. Marked this review as Not recommended just to make sure the devs reach faster. You already know the game is good but it needs a bit more polishing.

The story of the game is nice but the combat system and the bugs ruins your experience. "F8" is your friend, so just save often and you'll be good. It's really annoying getting stuck under the texture or jump 500 meters in the air when you try to climb rocks or anything. I couldn't count how many times I got a Memory Allocation Error, very annoying especially if you haven't saved for a while.

The combat system is very buggy and clunky. The actions are very slow and delayed compared to the enemy. Spamming right click will "maybe" parry some attacks coming from the enemy, and you will have a very low chance doing this on endgame so good luck.

Some quests have any type of support, and other just happen to get completed randomly doing random things. You will get stuck in some of them without even having a way to cancel them or reload them. The last thing you need to do is to kill that NPC.. Also the dialog between you and the other NPCs is very basic.

There's also an unofficial patch on the internet that fixes a lot of things and this is the red flag I think you should take in consideration before buying this game or playing it. There are no updates / fixes coming from the Devs for it lately and the game was released in 2009.

I've finished the game in the end, with all these bugs and errors but... it's a shame because the game is great, it has a great story... this game should get a remake.

With all this said, I don't recommend it! Thank you for reading.

Really awesome car control!! Cars can get totaled and wheels can blow up. Totally a fun game! It also has split screen option for multiplayer. Great game!

Great game, I like the art and the music. The game has a few bugs, I couldn't throw the orb with the controller (I had to use the mouse and sometimes it would work pretty well holding the scroll wheel). Sometimes dodging the enemies wouldn't work. The boss had some weird hits where he hit me while in air doing a diving attack.

Really looking into this game in the future when it will have more content.

Fighting is fun, even if there aren't too many options. Straight button mashing the mobs and occasionally dodging the attacks. Totally would recommend it for weekends when you wanna dive in something chill.

Here's my experience with the game:

I've enjoyed it so far, the combat is somewhere satisfying, the effects and stage design is really great and the boss fights are challenging. I do have some complaints about the way you have to defend yourself from power attacks or just normal hits. The defense mechanics are awful and hard to control.

I haven't played the other SoR games, but the AI's so weird built that every press of a button is counted and they know when to hit you. On above Hard difficulty they will gang up on you, you won't have too many chances to get out of there without taking a hit. I find this somewhere frustrating but if you enjoy that, hey.. who am I to judge!

Have fun!
I would rate the game: 8/10.

The game is fun. You can go solo or team based, but careful with the vector score. If you go over 20 points gap between your gear and the contract recommended, you can get in big trouble. It still has some bugs, sometimes your character won't attack, but that's ok, just get knocked and you'll be "gucci". otherwise "git gud"! Cya in the game.

This game is exactly what you want to buy if you're viewing this type of games! It has a great story, great boss mechanics, impressive quests and rewards and very fun in Co-Op. Your money is well spent on this one!
