A solid more operatic take on the traditional mafia formula. While the story does feel derivative of older games the new setting and scenery did a lot to get me engaged. The game looks incredible.

The knife fighting system, while basic, is a nice diversion from the sneak & shoot game-play loop.

I always enjoy the vehicles and fashion of these games and this entry defiantly delivers on those fronts.

I hope mafia continues to explore new interesting settings for the series, 8/10

I think what Obsidian have done here is pretty interesting. If you liked either of the pillars games or if you liked outer-worlds I think you can find something here to enjoy. What you won't find is an elder scrolls copy. This game has more BioWare DNA then Bethesda.

It's a first person, choices matter, real time rpg. To me it's clear that the mission was not to make a "Skyrim killer" or even an "Elder Scrolls like" but to bring the world of Eora into a new genre while maintaining some of that CRPG party focused feel. You can actually make a build here. Yeah it's a bit stripped down but the bones of it's predecessors remain. You have Abilities, Skills, and Feats. You can min-max to an extent and you will feel the draw backs of sub-optimal builds in the early game. It's not crazy hard-core but it's deeper then most of it's competitors.

*I played a melee based character so the mage and ranged builds may feel different.

I found combat to be very active and engaging. I was hot swapping weapons, parrying, dodging to reposition, having Kai pounce back-liners, and using Giatta to buff and heal as needed in a way that reminded of the pillars games. Yes the combat is repetitive, but that's RPGs. Yes there are a limited variety of enemies throughout the game. I wish there were more. I still would say I enjoyed the majority of my time in combat.

The writing is where I feel most conflicted. I think the narrative design, the quest writing, the over all feeling of choice is all done really well. I think the way the dialog and characters are written feels very outdated. Avowed definitely has a mild case of Borderlands 3 disease where the actual game is good but sometimes you are cringing through another "yeah...that just happened" style quip. Josh Whedon owes us all an apology.

Overall, this is a pretty enjoyable game and a solid proof of concept that I would love to see improved upon. I think it was done dirty by bad marketing and was positioned against games it wasn't even trying to emulate. I think if they find a happy median between the quirked up style of their FPS RPGs and the more mature tones of their C-RPGs we could have a really great, engrossing world with solid mechanics and progression systems.

It would be great to see more developed NPC routines or more fleshed out stealth and crime systems in future games. People love to put the bucket on the head. Also Play Kingdom Come Deliverance II

Majesty Gold is a great old game from the like 2000 or 1999. Basicly you are a ruler of Ardania a kingdom wich seems to be endlessly plagued by monsters, demons, and glutonus elves. This Game plays great, pretty addictive, and unique. My only real complant, the quest get reppeitive and the multiplayer dosen't work unless you run it hamachi. So in conclusion if you've ever wonder what it was like to be the king instead of the knight, and want a cool new city builder/ RPG/ fantsay game you should get this edtion over normal majesty, and definetly over majesty2, wich is TOTALY broken.
