While this game is pretty hard the first time you start playing it, it is also very rewarding. You will not feel such accomplishment from beating some area/boss or the game itself in almost no other game, but you still need some tenacity to get to that feeling. Also controller is recommended because the controls on mouse+keybord are really confusing at start, but that doesnt mean that it's impossible to play it without controller. I myself am playing this game with mouse+keybord and must say that once you get used to the controls its pretty much like in any other game
