Haven't played much but i can already tell this is a great game. The idea is so original, this is a super unique twist on the survivor genre. Looking forward to more updates.

Early Access Review
This is a very promising survivor game. I was captivated by the art style, smooth animation & combat and Norse mythology theme.
Only downsize that I can think of right now is the progression. The game is quite hard without characters upgrades and it does take some time to get them. So you might have to farm stage 1 a bit when you try new character.
I am aware that the game is in early access and still being actively worked on, which is awesome. Looking forward to see more improvements and QoL changes in the near future.

Edit 1: Dev has acknowledged that there are issues with the balance & the grind in the latest announcement, and he's working on a balance patch. I'm more than happy to revise the rating when that happens, for now, will wait and see.

Can't recommend this game at this point. The game looks pretty good on the surface and they did try to add some interesting lores which I can appreciate. However, the core gameplay is shallow and gets stale very quickly.

Progression during the early game (world 1-3) is fine. You have quite a bit of things to do and focus on (upgrading gears, completing quests, unlocking pets & new characters). However, around the time you hit world 4, progression starts to slow down as you get less things to do. Materials required to upgrade gear increase significantly and only get worse as you progress. Enemies get spongier and take longer to kill. Gears, skills, ascension tree and world progression are shared among all characters, so you will keep the same strength even when you start a fresh character, which make them all feel the same with different flavour text.

By the time you reach world 6-7, enemies become so spongey that the gameplay loop becomes: leave your character on a map to farm for few hours for the materials of your current tier -> upgrade your gear -> if you can progress, you unlock the next tier materials & equipment and do the same thing again; if not, try to ascend to get more stat points or leave your computer on for a few more hours to upgrade your gear some more and try again. It's just massive number check with no variety.

Another huge criticism is around the passive skill level. Passive skills cost so much mana at higher levels that I always have to keep them at lower levels for mana efficiency. This makes the skill level system completely pointless.

It lures you in during the first few hours with decent ideas but you might regret buying it later on. I do not recommend this game until there are significant improvements to the systems. That said, because of my completionist addiction I will still likely leave this running in the background and complete it.

This is a good game with a number of problems that keep it from being great. I'll start with the cons first.

Cons
  • Story feels very random: At the start of the game, you'd meet new people, talk to them twice and now they are unlocked as a permanent teammate. So the pacing just feels off & pretty incohesive, things just... randomly happen.
  • Random systems: Quite a lot of systems are thrown at you at the start of the game but they are pretty shallow which make it feels like the devs threw a bunch of random ideas together to see what would stick.
  • Very simple combat... : Combat just boils down to spamming AOE (with/without elemental advantage) until their shield breaks, then you spam more AOE to kill all enemies. There is one redeeming quality to the combat which I will mention in the pros.
  • ...Yet pretty confusing, especially with buffs & debuffs: You can't tell what each buff & debuff does and by the time you move on to the next area, they are not even used again.
  • Quests: Very simple but also very confusing. They can range from talking to this person, to running around for 5 minutes not knowing what to do, to wtf my quest is auto completed and I don't know what I did. Quest rewards are also very insignificant, 95% of the time it's just straight money.
  • No multiple save file: You have only 1 save file, so if you like a quest/boss fight/specific dialogue you can't go back once you've finished it.
  • No chat log: If you accidentally skip pass a dialogue, they are gone forever - which happened to me multiple times. And having only 1 save file doesn't help at all.
  • Bugs: Some minor visual bugs - screen gone black, missing enemy sprite & health bar - and some collision problems with the environment.

Pros
  • Story: Despite the very random start, the story gets better once you have collected all 6 party members. Although it's not something groundbreaking, I think the devs did a decent job tying the story together near the end.
  • Worldbuilding is actually pretty interesting: Terra is a changing world and it will continue to change in the future. Some people are terrified of the changes, some embrace it; some hold on to their old traditions against the flow of time, some just go with the flow and live each day to the fullest. There is no 1 right or wrong answer to the world, and that's ok.
  • Characters: Each character is unique and each represent a pillar of the Terra, which ties to the worldbuilding. Best boi Alto 😭!
  • Combat: The extremely simplified combat is compensated by the team formation system, which will switch up every battle. There is a level of adaption on the flight to the combat which makes it pretty interesting.
  • Leveling: Is an absolute breeze. Most rpgs nowadays require a certain level of grinding and it can drag out the game by a fair bit. The devs were smart to make the leveling here extremely fast to cut down the grind, you can fight few enemies in the dungeons and get straight to the boss at about right level. Of course, the downside is that it makes this game really easy, but I think this is a breath of fresh air and absolutely enjoy it.
  • Shop: Actually love it when I can buy and sell items in 1 menu.
  • Environment: The environment is gorgeous & dynamically change between maps. Not yet reach the level of HD 2D games but it is very solid
  • Music: They actually have pretty good music.
  • Playtime: Short (12-20 hours)

At first, I hate the game because of the random story, odd pacing and pissed easy combat. But the more I play, the more I actually enjoy it. The devs did have some good ideas while making this game and did hit some good marks. Although it's not perfect because of some problems, it was an overall enjoyable experience.
Final score 7.5/10.
